Thank you for being here. If you've landed on this page, GRU953-Studio has probably been useful to you — and that means a great deal. This page explains, plainly, how the project stays free for personal use, the small number of ways you can support it if you'd like to, and the one situation where a paid commercial licence is needed.
There's no pressure anywhere on this page. Using the tool and enjoying it is already a lovely thing to do.
GRU953-Studio is free to use (no cost) for personal and non-commercial use, and it always will be for that use. This is set out in the licence itself — the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0 (a plain, well-known licence that permits any non-commercial use at no charge).
"Non-commercial" is broad on purpose. You are already covered, at no cost, if your use is:
- Personal — your own projects, learning, experimenting, and hobbies.
- Research and study — for the benefit of public knowledge.
- Charities, schools, universities, and public-benefit bodies — including government, public health, public safety, and environmental organisations, however they are funded.
If that's you, there's nothing to buy, sign, or ask for. Enjoy it.
The project has no third-party donation account — there's no page on an outside service where money is collected. So the most valuable support isn't money at all. Here are the things that genuinely help, in the order they help most.
Telling the maker what worked, what confused you, and what you wished it did is the single most useful thing you can offer. It's how the tool gets better for everyone. You don't need any technical knowledge — describe it however feels natural.
The friendliest place for this is Discussions, where you can ask a question or leave a comment in plain English.
A "star" on GitHub is a one-click bookmark that also signals the project is useful — it helps other people find it. To add one:
- Open the repository at github.com/GRU-953/GRU953-Studio.
- Find the Star button near the top right of the page.
- Select it once. That's all.
Sharing the link with someone who'd find it useful helps just as much.
If you use GRU953-Studio to make money, a commercial licence is required (more on that below) — and paying for one directly funds the ongoing work. This is the main way the project is supported financially.
There's no donation link, and none will be invented here. If you specifically want to contribute financially even though your use is personal, you're very welcome to — just email aninda.sh15@gmail.com and it can be arranged. Please treat this as entirely optional.
The free non-commercial licence covers the great majority of people. There's one situation it doesn't cover: using the tool to make money.
You need a separate, paid commercial licence if you use GRU953-Studio — or anything you build with it — for a commercial or revenue-generating purpose. For example:
- Selling an app you built with it, or charging people to use it.
- Using it inside a business to build software the business runs on or sells.
- Offering it (or a version of it) as part of a paid product or service.
- Bundling or redistributing it as part of something commercial.
In short: if there's a commercial purpose behind the use, the free non-commercial licence doesn't cover it — a commercial licence does.
Just ask. A one-line email describing what you'd like to do is enough, and there's no obligation either way.
Getting a commercial licence is a short, friendly email conversation, not a legal ordeal.

One small note: a commercial licence covers using the software. The GRU953 name and the Soaring Bird logo are protected separately as brand identifiers and aren't part of any software licence.
