OpenJKDF2x Xbox 0.9b
This is the first public Xbox beta package for OpenJKDF2x. It includes the Xbox engine build, dashboard metadata, controller UI assets, box art, and the packaged cutscene converter. It does not include Jedi Knight, Mysteries of the Sith, mods, saves, generated compatibility archives, or any other retail game data.
Install
- Extract
OpenJKDF2x-Xbox-0.9b.zip. - Copy the extracted
OpenJKDF2x-Xbox-Betafolder to an original Xbox HDD or an emulator game folder. - Add your legally owned Jedi Knight game data to that folder.
- Launch
default.xbe.
Cutscenes
OpenJKDF2x streams converted Xbox .XMV videos. Copy your original .SMK and/or .SAN videos into the game folder tree, then run OpenJKDF2xCutsceneConverter.exe from the same folder as default.xbe. The converter scans subfolders automatically and asks at startup whether to delete original videos after successful conversion.
The converter package includes the required FFmpeg/Gyan.dev notices and license text in CUTSCENE_CONVERSION_README.txt.
Mysteries Of The Sith
MotS support uses compatibility files generated locally from a user-owned MotS install. Generated MotS archives are intentionally not included in this release package.
Multiplayer
Local split-screen and the System Link menu path are included. System Link needs broader real-console and multi-device validation, so please include logs, screenshots, and your network setup when reporting issues.
Known Issues
- Extended JK/MotS soak testing is still ongoing; please report freezes with the generated debug log.
- System Link behavior may vary by emulator, console, and network setup.
- Optional third-party mods are not part of this package and may affect stability.
- Cutscenes must be converted to
.XMVfor reliable Xbox playback.
Legal
OpenJKDF2x is an engine port only. Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, Mysteries of the Sith, STAR WARS, LucasArts, and related properties remain the property of Lucasfilm Ltd. and its affiliates. Use your own legally owned game data.
