Place a legally obtained USA v1.2 big-endian ROM next to the executable as sote.us.v1.2.z64 or Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire (U) (V1.2) [!].z64.

Beta testers: please tune CONTROLS_MODERN.INI for your controller and submit the best-feeling setups with the controller model and notes.
