Television for Linux 1.4.27 adds a native system tray: Show/Hide Television, saved server address, Disconnect, About and Quit. Icon activation restores the same owned window. Hide preserves the document and connection; native Close still quits. The saved-server line excludes credentials and does not report live health. Quitting the client leaves the agent’s server running.
This is a downstream x86_64 Linux release from Gberfield/television, not an official Telepath release. Source: merged tray PR #8, commit 43391068b7d90c933ace1042a03ca56e1f5b5f29, tree fa4879e2038998032da530b997e21c72241767fb. Only the desktop version and bundled Linux guide are stamped in a tracked-files export. Shared source/server remains 1.4.23; no npm or Mac release is made.
Download Television-1.4.27-linux-x64.tar.gz for the provided user installer, or Television-1.4.27-linux-x86_64.AppImage for FUSE execution. Verify SHA256SUMS. Portable installations update through the installer; AppImage uses this fork’s dedicated HTTPS linux-stable feed. Older versioned payloads remain available.
On Omarchy, pin Television from the tray’s management menu. Login startup is opt-in local configuration, not enabled by package installation. Native Wayland and explicit X11 are supported with the production sandbox enabled. Never add --no-sandbox as a production workaround.
Validation: full local verification and fork CI passed. Native tray actions were checked using the real StatusNotifierItem/DBusMenu protocol and Quickshell host on independent Hyprland displays, real token-protected servers and declared synthetic artifacts. Protocol actions and software-rendered captures do not accept hand-pressed physical input, perceived hardware GPU performance, fractional scaling, multiple displays or an ongoing release-maintenance cadence. The user reported the initial installed candidate working. Complete recovery coverage remains future work.
Release validation passed for installed portable and actual FUSE AppImage on private Wayland and X11: authenticated connection, themes/settings, artifacts, saved-connection relaunch and renderer sandbox. Four real hosted 1.4.26 → 1.4.27 AppImage crossings passed: stable and default versioned filenames on both backends. The real Restart to update action replaced the payload, automatically relaunched and reconnected with unchanged saved credentials and confirmed server preferences. The normal client/server/profile were untouched during private checks. These outcomes are separate from physical-host and complete recovery coverage.
Refreshed documentation — October 8, 2026 (Eastern Time)
The approved documentation from PR #14, merged commit 754d04767bcd209d929af793e18a9133e2d5f9b6, is now available in separately named docs-20261008 editions of the portable archive and AppImage. These retain application version 1.4.27 and the original runtime files; only README-LINUX.md is replaced and a DOCUMENTATION folder is added. They do not include later application-source changes such as the Markdown table fix. Original versioned packages, checksums, build-info and the automatic-update feed remain unchanged.

- Documentation provenance and verification
The downstream administrator guide is published here for immediate use. This does not deploy the upstream-owned television.run/install.md; that requires access to its website publishing repository. Repository-relative links and image sources in packaged documentation are pinned to the merged source commit; edition prefaces clarify that source-checkout commands require a separate checkout. Runtime file bytes, symlink targets and executable modes were compared to the original published payloads, and both final packages were extracted and checked. These documentation-only checks do not add new runtime, physical-input, GPU/scaling or updater acceptance.
