v0.6.3-release
GearDuck
v0.6.3-release (2026-10-07)
Full Changelog Previous Releases
- Add class, talent, and activity-based starter weights
GearDuck now provides editable starter weights for each Classic class and major talent tree across Questing, Raid, and PvP. These broad estimates offer a useful starting point, not simulation-derived recommendations. Existing custom weights are preserved.
v0.6.2-release
GearDuck
v0.6.2-release (2026-10-05)
Full Changelog Previous Releases
- bump version
- Fix onboarding not showing on new characters
Resolve the per-character database at PLAYER_LOGIN, when the player name
is reliably available, instead of only at ADDON_LOADED. Show the
onboarding window after PLAYER_ENTERING_WORLD (with a short delay)
rather than at PLAYER_LOGIN, when the UI isn't ready. Report errors from
opening the window in chat instead of failing silently. - Update .gitignore to include PROJECT_SUMMARY.md and add UISpecialFrames to Lua diagnostics globals
v0.6.1-release
GearDuck
v0.6.1-release (2026-10-05)
Full Changelog Previous Releases
- Onboarding, per-character settings, tooltip fixes, release workflow
Added- First-login onboarding window, shown once per character: centered,
Blizzard-style frame with a close button top-right and red
Back/Next/Skip buttons. Pages: welcome, what Power Level is, how it is
calculated, how the addon works, stat weights (default/custom radio),
tooltip profiles (Questing/Raiding/PvP multi-select), upgrade arrows
(yes/no radio), thank-you. - Choices apply immediately and persist when navigating back and forth.
Switching custom back to default clears the custom marker and restores
default weights. - Closing, skipping, or finishing fills unanswered questions with the
defaults (default weights, Questing profile, arrows on). - If custom weights are selected when onboarding ends, the GearDuck
options page opens automatically, as with /gd options. - /gd setup command to reopen the setup guide.
- GearDuckOnboarding.lua module (added to .toc) and tests for onboarding,
per-character data, and item filtering.
Changed - Settings (tooltip profiles, upgrade arrows, hit-cap context) and stat
weights are now stored per character (name-realm). A character can only
view and edit its own weights. Item, enchant, and set bonuses remain
shared. Existing account-wide class weights are not migrated; each
character starts from the defaults. - Release workflow now runs only on pushed tags matching v*-beta or
v*-release, and fails unless the tagged commit is on main. - README updated for the setup guide, /gd setup, and the new file.
Fixed - Hovering an item in the character pane no longer adds GearDuck
comparison lines (matches the existing no-arrow behavior there). - Blizzard's side-by-side equipped-item comparison tooltips no longer show
GearDuck comparisons; only the hovered item does. - Tools (fishing poles, mining picks, skinning knives, etc.) and items
with no stats (tabards, 12 pound catfish) no longer show tooltip lines
or upgrade arrows. Items with a manual /gd itembonus are still evaluated.
- First-login onboarding window, shown once per character: centered,
- Add first-login onboarding and per-character settings
Added- Onboarding window shown the first time each character logs in with
GearDuck, centered with Blizzard-style frame, close button top-right,
and red Back/Next/Skip buttons. Pages:- Welcome (Skip Setup / Next)
