v1.6.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 26 Aug 21:40

Fix: Windows "failed to load python3xx.dll"

The folder-only build failed with failed to load python312.dll when the exe ran without its _internal folder next to it (started from inside the zip, or the DLL quarantined by antivirus). Windows now ships two downloads:

  • IGMP-Test-Tool-Windows.exe — a single self-contained file, immune to this error (recommended).
  • IGMP-Test-Tool-Windows-folder.zip — folder build as fallback if antivirus blocks the single exe; extract the whole folder first, then run IGMP Test Tool.exe from it.

Downloads

  • macOS (Intel + Apple Silicon, universal): IGMP-Test-Tool-macOS-universal.zip — unzip and run (not notarized yet: right-click → Open on first launch).
  • Windows: IGMP-Test-Tool-Windows.exe (single file, recommended) or IGMP-Test-Tool-Windows-folder.zip (fallback).

What's new

Port auto-detection. Join without a port and the tool finds it:

  1. Listens ~20 s on well-known multicast ports (RTP 5004/5005, PTP 319/320, Q-SYS 2467, Dante 4321, SAP 9875, VLC 1234, ...) and adopts the one carrying traffic (row shows 2467 (auto)). No privileges needed.
  2. Detect port captures the group's UDP traffic and takes the destination port (any port). Uses the same elevated helper/system dialog as the querier analysis; once authorized, further port-less joins are sniffed automatically.

Joining the same group again with a port now sets the port on the existing join instead of failing with "already active". Detected ports are written back to the library entry.

Windows build reworked against antivirus false positives: PyInstaller bootloader compiled from source on the CI runner, folder layout instead of a self-extracting exe, version metadata. Now shipped as IGMP-Test-Tool-Windows.zip (unzip, run IGMP Test Tool.exe). If your scanner still flags it: the build is fully transparent in the public GitHub Actions log, or run py igmp_join_gui.py directly.

Downloads

  • macOS (Intel + Apple Silicon, universal): IGMP-Test-Tool-macOS-universal.zip — unzip and run (not notarized: right-click → Open on first launch).
  • Windows: IGMP-Test-Tool-Windows.zip — unzip, run IGMP Test Tool.exe from the folder, no Python required (confirm SmartScreen once).

Windows build reworked against antivirus false positives (superseded by v1.6.0, which contains the same build plus port auto-detection).

New: Library

Every successful join (group, source, port) is now remembered automatically. The Library panel lists them sorted by last use:

  • click a row to fill the form, double-click / Join to join again on the selected interface
  • give entries a label (e.g. "Cam 1 video"), remove entries you no longer need
  • stored as plain JSON in your profile, shared by the native app and the web GUI (macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/IGMP Test Tool/library.json, Windows: %APPDATA%\IGMP Test Tool\library.json, Linux: ~/.config/igmp-test-tool/library.json)

Downloads

  • macOS (Intel + Apple Silicon, universal): IGMP-Test-Tool-macOS-universal.zip — unzip and run (not notarized: right-click → Open on first launch).
  • Windows: IGMP-Test-Tool-Windows.exe — runs directly, no Python required (confirm SmartScreen once).

v1.4.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 17 Aug 12:49

What's new

Querier analysis no longer needs sudo / 'Run as administrator'. On Start analysis the app requests elevated rights through the system's own dialog and runs only a small capture helper elevated — the app itself stays unprivileged:

  • macOS: standard password prompt ("osascript wants to make changes")
  • Windows: UAC prompt (Yes/No)
  • Linux: polkit dialog (pkexec), fallback sudo

You are asked once per session; stop/start of the analysis re-uses the helper, and it exits with the app. If the app already runs elevated, no dialog appears. On macOS the helper is staged to a temp folder automatically when the app lives in Documents/Desktop/Downloads (TCC restriction for root processes).

Downloads

  • macOS (Intel + Apple Silicon, universal): IGMP-Test-Tool-macOS-universal.zip — unzip and run (not notarized: right-click → Open on first launch).
  • Windows: IGMP-Test-Tool-Windows.exe — runs directly, no Python required (confirm SmartScreen once).

v1.3.0

@github-actions github-actions released this 17 Aug 12:34

What's new

  • English UI throughout — native app, web GUI, error messages, README.
  • Interface list refreshes automatically every 5 s (e.g. when a USB adapter is plugged in) — only when something changed, current selection is kept. A compact ⟳ button next to the dropdown forces an immediate refresh.

Downloads

  • macOS (Intel + Apple Silicon, universal): IGMP-Test-Tool-macOS-universal.zip — unzip and run (not notarized: right-click → Open on first launch).
  • Windows: IGMP-Test-Tool-Windows.exe — runs directly, no Python required (confirm SmartScreen once).

Querier analysis requires elevated privileges (Windows: Run as administrator; macOS: sudo "…/IGMP Test Tool.app/Contents/MacOS/IGMP Test Tool").

Neu: Querier-Analyse

⚠️ Benötigt erhöhte Rechte (Raw-Socket): Windows-exe per Rechtsklick → Als Administrator ausführen; macOS: sudo "…/IGMP Test Tool.app/Contents/MacOS/IGMP Test Tool". Joins/Statistik funktionieren weiterhin ohne.
