Description of proposed changes

I am wondering whether the newly added presentation page of the website can also benefit from using cards. Before coverting the remaining presentations it would be great to hear your impressions and adjustments.

Maybe we could also use buttons for "Slides", "Poster", "Recording", etc. Therefore it would be great to have buttons placed next to each other. Maybe via nested grids. Or badges, which seem to be easier to arrange, but appear to be smaller than buttons. Not happy so far; but too late for today, will continue the next day(s).

One advantage of the old layout is that readers can directly copy the citation information.

What about this style? I like it that the header and footer parts have the same heights, as long as (1) the conference name in the header is short; (2) not too many badges in the footer.

That's true. But as we now have the PyGMT paper it's likely that users will cite this together with the GMT paper.

Oh yes! This is something I also really like to have 🙂.

(1) the conference name in the header is short

The majority of presentations were given at "AGU" and "SciPy" and I feel these are widely known conferences in the geoscience and Python community. So we can use the shortcuts.

(2) not too many badges in the footer

I do not think that there will (many) more badges, as the one we currently have. If we keep two cards per row there is still space for one or two badges for the cards which already have three badges.

Currently we store the images in the repo, except the one for the AGU24 talk, xref: issue #3708.
