Gentle Shell v3.7.0 is a minor release that authorizes bounded subagent work in independently selected Git repositories and updates its pinned Gentle AI runtime to v3.7.0. The npm package remains gentle-pi.

What's new

Independent repository subagents

A bounded subagent may target a separate Git repository through the new repository_root selector. An eligible interactive session obtains explicit consent for the independent target, revalidates its identity before spawning and continuing, and attributes observed child edits to that repository without registering it as a linked worktree. The existing same-clone workspace_root path remains separate.

Gentle AI v3.7.0 pin

The package-local runtime now uses the signed v3.7.0 Gentle AI release, including configurable native reviewer models across Claude Code, OpenCode and Codex and the upstream exact-authority replay fix. The new explicit native CLI version row keeps the same negotiated provider contract; see Pinned runtime.

What was fixed

Cross-lane check documentation

The technical reference no longer describes the offline fixture parity check as a live multi-check battery; it points to the actual live battery in the Gentle AI repository.

Pinned runtime

Gentle AI v3.7.0 uses module github.com/gentleman-programming/gentle-ai/v3. Darwin and Linux use signed release archives with separately pinned archive and executable digests; Windows uses a Go SumDB-verified source build of that exact tag. The provider contract stays at 1.2.0, and NATIVE_CLI_CONTRACTS["3.7.0"] repeats the independently verified v3.6.1 capability row; no new capabilities/vN identity is introduced.

Breaking changes

None. Existing ODD, SDD, review and package interfaces remain compatible. Cross-repository delegation requires explicit target consent; the same-clone route retains its previous scope.

Upgrade

pi install npm:gentle-pi@3.7.0

Restart Pi, then run gentle-ai sync so managed agent and reviewer assets match the updated pinned runtime.

Numbers

12 non-merge commits, 3 merged pull requests, and 2 unique GitHub PR authors since v3.6.0.

Verification

  • Local macOS pnpm test on the release preparation: 3,360 passed, 38 platform-specific skipped, 0 failed; focused package-manifest tests: 50 passed, 0 failed.
  • Package verification: 171 required files and 69 exact byte-pinned contract artifacts; generated runtime check and npm pack --dry-run --json passed.
  • The pin work unit's packed-runner E2E passed with published Gentle AI v3.7.0 assets; release version changes package metadata only.
  • Pin review: high risk, review-aad6eb071519fdbb, four lenses, approved and acknowledged. Version-preparation review: medium risk, review-f88d0d93991dcbc6, one lens, approved and acknowledged.
  • GitHub PR #1377 verification, Ubuntu/Windows CI and macOS session transport passed. Main-head CI run 35872859148 and Windows run 35872859439 passed on the release commit. npm publication succeeded in the release-validation run above.
