Spool Studio v3.0.0 Beta
This is the first beta release of Spool Studio v3. It introduces the new Paxx12 SpoolLink workflow and is intended for testing with the current Paxx12 1.5.x firmware generation.
Tested with Paxx12 Extended Firmware v1.5.2-paxx12-21 beta, based on PR #567.
Important
Spool Studio v3 no longer writes legacy Spool Studio / spool-id based tags.
The app now uses the physical NFC tag UID as the primary link between a tag and a Spoolman spool. The UID is stored in Spoolman and written/managed according to the new Paxx12 SpoolLink logic.
If you still use the older Paxx12 firmware or the old tag workflow, please stay on Spool Studio v2.x.
Main Changes
Paxx12 SpoolLink support
- Added support for the new Paxx12 SpoolLink based workflow.
- NFC tags are now linked to Spoolman spools using the physical tag UID.
- Spoolman compatibility checks were added for the required integration fields.
- The app can detect whether the printer and Spoolman are ready for the new workflow.
- Settings now include checks for printer reachability, firmware support and Spoolman field support.
Tag conversion
- Old Spool Studio tags can be detected when they are read.
- If an old tag is found, the app offers a conversion to the new Paxx12 SpoolLink format.
- During conversion, the app updates the matching Spoolman spool and stores the NFC card UID.
- If conversion is declined, the app keeps the new v3 workflow strict and does not write legacy data.
Material and variant handling
- Material, material modifier and variant are now handled separately.
- Values such as PLA+ are normalized for Paxx12 compatibility.
- The base material remains compatible with firmware expectations.
- Additional material information such as Plus/HS can be stored separately through Spoolman extra fields.
- Dropdown and display labels were adjusted so the app can still show user-friendly material names.
Spoolman integration
- Added support for card UID storage in Spoolman.
- Added support for material modifier storage in Spoolman.
- Added checks and guided setup for required Spoolman extra fields.
- Improved Spoolman save/update logic for the new data model.
- Improved handling of empty spool weight and manufacturer-related values.
- Spoolman dropdown entries now include the spool ID in the selection list.
NFC / RFID
- Updated OpenSpool tag writing for the new Paxx12-compatible data model.
- Improved old-tag detection and conversion flow.
- Improved Bambu Lab RFID import so parsed data is correctly applied to the spool form.
- Status messages were shortened and made more consistent.
Toolhead status
- The former Printer Mapping workflow was changed into a read-only Toolhead Status view.
- The dialog now shows the spool data reported by the printer.
- App-composed labels and SpoolLink-reported data can be compared.
- Toolhead cards now show material, variant and color information more clearly.
User Interface
- Major v3 UI redesign with a darker modern layout.
- New main screen structure with spool preview, status panel and compact data sections.
- Updated Settings screen for the new Paxx12/SpoolLink checks.

- Read one existing tag.
- Convert only one spool first.
- Verify the result in Spoolman and the Paxx12 Filament Manager.
- Continue converting the remaining spools after a successful test.
