b2f3fd0

Includes the existing removal of obsolete pre-0.3.0 settings and the updated keyboard documentation.

  • Standardize CI, security checks, packaging, README badges, and installation/development documentation.
  • Update development dependencies and pinned Actions through quick-template v0.1.2.
  • Distribute the exact extension ZIP verified by main-branch CI and GNOME's official packer.

For installations older than 0.3.0, disable the extension before replacing its files and log out/in to avoid running old code against the current schema.

v0.3.0

Custom shortcuts return to their defaults (no settings migration), because the keybinding keys are now prefixed with quicktiler-. Mutter keeps one keybinding-name table for the whole Shell, and the old unprefixed names could collide with other extensions. The old keys stay in the schema, unused, for this release. The Shift rule is tightened, and the toggle is torn down from its destroy signal.

⚠️ Breaking: upgrade in this order

Installing over a running 0.2.x and then locking or unlocking can abort GNOME Shell, because the Shell keeps running the old code until you log out.

  1. Disable QuickTiler.
  2. Install this release.
  3. Log out and back in.
  4. Enable QuickTiler.

Updates through extensions.gnome.org are applied at login and are not affected. Your old values stay readable with dconf dump /org/gnome/shell/extensions/quicktiler/ if you want to re-enter them.

Shortcut rule: a Shift-only shortcut is now refused on the keys that editing text needs (Home, End, the arrows, Page Up/Down, Tab, Return, keypad Enter, Mode_switch, dead keys), as GNOME Settings does. A shortcut you already saved keeps working, but Shift+Tab, Shift+Return and the like can no longer be recorded.
