@GhostLabs-dot GhostLabs-dot released this 04 Oct 15:29

EVMTraceX v0.1.0

The initial public release of EVMTraceX, a terminal-first EVM execution trace explorer for developers, auditors, and security researchers.

EVMTraceX turns complex execution traces into an interactive terminal UI, making nested calls, reverts, gas usage, function selectors, and storage changes easier to inspect.

Highlights

  • Interactive terminal-based execution trace explorer
  • Geth-style callTracer JSON support
  • Foundry forge test -vvvv trace parsing
  • Foundry -vvvvv storage-change parsing
  • Frame-local and trace-wide storage inspection
  • Nested EVM call visualization
  • Revert and error visibility
  • Function selector recognition
  • Optional Solidity / Foundry ABI support
  • Multiple independent Foundry test traces preserved as separate roots
  • Optional RPC transaction tracing through debug_traceTransaction
  • Keyboard-first navigation and filtering
  • Cross-platform Rust build
  • CI and dependency auditing

Quick Start

cargo build --release
./target/release/evmtrace-tui examples/sample_trace.json

For a Foundry trace:

forge test -vvvv > foundry-trace.txt
./target/release/evmtrace-tui --foundry foundry-trace.txt

For storage changes:

forge test -vvvvv > foundry-trace.txt
./target/release/evmtrace-tui --foundry foundry-trace.txt

EVMTraceX is intentionally focused on one job:

Make EVM execution traces fast to inspect from a terminal.

This release is the first public version of the project.
