.GlobalPreferences was a declared hot domain that never got its flush: the marker directory was globbed without (D), so its one dot-prefixed name stayed invisible. Latency only.
Emitted commands left the domain unquoted, so a domain containing a space wrote the wrong key into the wrong domain — 15 such domains on one ordinary Mac.
The watcher teardown blocked forever: it waited on watchers that are pipelines, which do not die with their shell. Subtrees are now killed leaves-first, with a bounded wait.
--verbose printed every command twice in ALL mode: the redundant DOMAIN pass was only suppressed when it was NOT verbose, so the debugging mode disagreed with the one everyone runs.
A domain born after startup lost its first write: an app's initial configuration went unreported. It is now emitted, with a # NOTE: marking it as such.
Naming an excluded domain explicitly emitted no defaults write, while a # NOTE: promised it was being watched. The exclusion list now applies in ALL mode only.
A change whose only output is a # NOTE: was dropped: the comment buffer was flushed alongside a real command or never, so an unaddressable empty-string key left the log blank.
The ktrace NOTE named whoever configured tracing last — a routine Apple daemon on a healthy Mac. It now resolves the process actually holding the slot, and says so when it cannot.
Security
A crafted plist filename could slip a command substitution into a line an admin replays in a root shell. Domains, paths, array keys and watcher-supplied fields are escaped now.
Noise
Exclude the Squirrel updater helpers (<bundle-id>.ShipIt): an install attempt recorded then deleted, so every Electron update surfaced as a write and two deletes.
Performance
Console is followed by PID rather than by name: pgrep -x Console ran every second all session, 14ms a call — some 50 seconds of CPU an hour.
