5e Item Importer v14.1.1
Foundry VTT Compatibility: v14
System Compatibility: D&D 5e 5.3.3
Safe to update mid-campaign: Yes
This release substantially expands the importer workflow while keeping 5e Item Importer fully usable on its own. Importing, reviewing, updating, exporting, and recovering Items should now require less manual cleanup.
What's New
- Flexible import destinations: Import into World Items and folders, owned Actors, or writable Item compendiums.
- Safer duplicate handling: Choose create, update, conservative merge, or skip. Existing matches and field-level conflicts are shown before changes are made.
- Saved presets and import history: Store browser-local input presets, retry incomplete batches, download reports, and safely undo this-session imports when the created documents have not been changed afterward.
- Expanded YAML support: Use full strict YAML or quicker lightweight key/value drafts. Strict documents now support visible schema versions and safe in-memory migration of older unversioned input.
- Item export: Copy or download Items as strict YAML. Core Item export works standalone.
Improvements
- Refined the importer window with a more compact layout, collapsed secondary tools, reduced visual clutter, and reliable theme-aware dropdown chevrons.
- Added drag-and-drop support for Items, Actors, Journal text, and local text or YAML files.
- Added an editable normalized-YAML view before import.
- Improved compendium image matching with deterministic and randomized top-match selection.
- Improved parser feedback with field provenance, confidence indicators, normalization warnings, and actionable review suggestions.
- Expanded natural parsing for consumables, wondrous equipment, quantities, charges, base weapons, mixed damage, attunement, and container capacity.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed malformed numeric values being partially accepted as valid prices, weights, quantities, uses, or capacities.
- Fixed several consumable subtype and charge-detection edge cases.
- Fixed mixed weapon damage formulas replacing or misclassifying the weapon’s primary damage.
- Improved rollback behavior when Activity or Active Effect attachment fails partway through an import.
- Fixed long attunement requirements crowding Item preview cards.
Migration & Save Safety
- Existing Items are not modified during installation or startup.
- Existing settings remain registered and preserved. Superseded parser settings are hidden rather than deleted.
- Saved presets and the last selected destination are stored locally in the current browser profile.
Settings Changes
- Compendium Image Selection: Choose deterministic matching or random selection among the strongest candidates.
- Legacy currency, weight, strict-mode, and formatting settings are now hidden because parser routing handles these behaviors automatically.
