DragonQuestIV-recompiled-v1.5
Achievements:
All 80 achievements of the RetroAchievements set can now be earned in the game itself,When you unlock one, a small notification with its badge, title and description slides in at the bottom right of the screen.
New Achievements menu.
Progress is kept in saves\achievements.ini, shared by every adventure log.
World map:
Walking in a straight line on the world map is now smooth. The camera used to snap to whole pixels while the party walks 1.5 pixels per frame, which made it judder; diagonals were not affected.
Camera in towns and dungeons:
The party is now in the middle of the picture, as on the world map, instead of in the lower half as on the DS.
New option in Settings > Display > Centred camera: Yes by default, No to keep the DS framing.
Cutscenes where the game moves the camera itself, and rooms with fixed cameras, smoothly return to the DS framing so nothing is cut off.
Quitting:
New Quit game entry in the adventure log menu, so you can close the game with a gamepad.
After End adventure at a church, the “Please turn the power OFF” screen now closes the game when you press A, B or Start, instead of leaving you stuck.
DragonQuestIV-recompiled-v1.4
-
No more screen tearing with vertical sync on. Vertical sync now waits for the display refresh. Before, the picture tore across the middle of the screen, mostly in fullscreen at 1080p.
-
Colored comparison arrows. In shops, the item and equipment windows, and when handing an item over, the arrow between the current value and the new one is green when the value goes up and red when it goes down.
-
Camera on the right stick. Pushing the gamepad’s right stick left or right turns the camera in towns, as L and R do. Up and down still zoom.
-
Visual Studio 2026 support.
DragonQuestIV-recompiled-v1.3
Fixes
- Chapter transitions: at the end of chapters 2 and 3, the picture no longer
jumps between the world map and the next chapter's title card. - World map: no more black flashes during some scenes (end of chapter 2,
leaving Zamoksva). - Travel doors: the party is no longer drawn as thin lines after a travel door
when both screens are joined.
DragonQuestIV-recompiled-v1.2
fixed a crash issue with chapter 4
DragonQuestIV-recompiled-v1.1
New Battle display option (Settings > Display):
Large (default): the monsters fill the space between the party’s windows and the commands, up to twice their DS size.
Panorama: the battle scene covers the whole picture, with the party’s windows on top.
DS screens: the original two-screen layout.
New Battle zoom option for Panorama: 100%, 125%, 150% or 175% (default 175%).
Monster groups are now zoomed too. Four Bullfinches are shown at twice their DS size; before, they stayed at DS size.
Bosses are zoomed as much as possible while staying whole on screen (Estark, Psaro, Aamon…).
Monster names, damage numbers and the light on the targeted monster now follow the monsters beyond the edges of the DS screen.
Monsters and their names never touch the menus or the party’s windows. This also fixes Master Kung’s feet being hidden behind a portrait.
The party’s windows at the top are bigger.
The camera no longer moves back and forth during battles.
Fixed seams that could cut through monster sprites.
Fixed a name plate disappearing when 4 monsters were on screen in Panorama.
