04 Your Documents Area

Your documents area: the company's brain

Think of the documents area as the company's brain. It is a simple folder on your computer, a place where your files already live. Whatever you put in it — contracts, invoices, client files, product sheets, emails, spreadsheets — the assistant can read, remember, and use. The more you store, the smarter your assistant becomes, because it answers using your real documents and not guesses.

How to set it up

Open the chat window and type /general, or use the menu Settings and then General. In the Documents path field, choose the folder that holds your documents. The default is your personal Documents folder, and you can change it at any time. When you save, AgentBridge starts reading that area in the background. The first indexing of a large archive takes a few minutes, but you can keep working while it runs.

Asking questions about your files

From now on you can ask anything about your documents: find the last invoice for a client, summarise a contract, check a figure in an old report. The assistant searches the whole area and answers from your data, with no need to open the files yourself. If you move to a different folder, just change the path again, and AgentBridge automatically re-indexes the new area.

A note on privacy

The documents area is a plain folder on disk, and nothing is uploaded into the chat. You keep working with your normal folders, and the assistant reaches into them directly. Your files never leave your machine.

The next guide shows what the assistant can produce starting from those documents: finished Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, and detailed PDF reports.
