Summary
The Patterns working group reviewed progress on the Pattern Quality Framework, agreed next steps for cleaning up duplicate patterns in the Operations category, and received a demonstration of a GitHub Copilot integration of the green coding skill built by AEVEVA. The group agreed to archive low-scoring patterns from the catalogue and to consolidate duplicate Operations patterns ahead of a wider effort to add cost-impact information across the catalogue.

Key Discussions

• The Pattern Quality Framework and supporting skill are being merged into the Patterns repository as the source of truth for future pattern reviews
• A full catalogue review against the new quality principles identified a small number of low-scoring patterns for archiving, and significant duplication within the Operations category, most notably across Kubernetes-related patterns
• The group discussed sequencing: consolidating duplicate patterns first, then applying cost-impact sections across the merged and remaining patterns
• AEVEVA shared a demonstration of a GitHub Copilot agent built on the green coding skill, covering code review, architecture document review, and pull request review, currently in a piloting phase within the organisation
