Finally I feel that the package is complete enough for a first release.
Major highlights in this release are:

  1. Choice using between official Refinitiv DATA RD (python package) and JSON (direct JSON connection) for connecting with Refinitiv.
    Older python packages like Eikon and RDP have been deprecated by Refinitiv and the same functionality can be found now in the RD package.
    All previous written code with this package should be compatible. (RDPconnect has been deprecated and should be replaced with RDConnect)
  2. Added new functions from RD library like rd_GetData, rd_GetHistoricalPricing and rd_GetHistory, and using custom instruments
  3. Added streaming with a direct websocket using the websocket package
  4. Added news functions from Eikon like, EikonGetNewsHeadlines and EikonGetNewsStory
  5. Added extensive documentation for new functions
  6. Many more bugfixes and minor changes
