August v0.19.0 — experimental preview

August v0.19.0 is the first downloadable AugScript preview. August is experimental: it keeps dependencies, effects, and public behavior readable in source and generated specifications, then compiles to a native executable through C.

Get started

• Follow the getting started guide to build and test a project.
• Use the package installation guide for the four matching npm tarballs and the VS Code extension. The packages are attached below; they are not yet published to the npm registry or VS Code Marketplace.
• Download SHA256SUMS with the artifacts and verify their hashes before installing. The offline wiki is attached as augscript-docs-0.19.0.tar.gz.

In this preview

• A CLI and VS Code extension with checking, native builds, same-file tests, formatting, completion, hover help, navigation, and suggested fixes.
• Deterministic aug spec explanations beside source files; the wiki shows complete example projects with code and compiled specs.
• User-authored source packages, explicit public exports, dependency locks, checked effects and errors, cooperative tasks, and ownership checks.
• First-party standard, web, and crypto libraries, plus a same-app OpenID Connect login example.
• New ownership and task conformance cases, parser/checker mutation checks, native result comparisons, and AddressSanitizer/UBSan coverage for core runtime paths.

The release workflow passed the compiler, documentation, installed-package, native web/crypto, and VSIX build gates. August is not yet a 1.0 language or a general production-ready web/OIDC service. Read the production readiness notes and roadmap before adopting it.
