CLR MIDI Monitor 1.1.0 — MIDI + OSC
CLR MIDI Monitor 1.1.0
Adds a receive-only OSC tab alongside MIDI. Both captures have independent On/Off controls and history, shared across app windows. Active-tab export is available from File → Export Capture.
OSC uses a user-selected, exclusively bound IPv4 UDP port. Default is This Mac only at 127.0.0.1:9001; Network must be selected explicitly. Occupied ports are refused. No forwarding, replies, discovery, port sharing or existing routing changes.
The OSC interface uses the same CLR layout: collapsible Options sidebar, framed latest-event fields, searchable history, Inspect and red OFF overlay. Decodes messages and bounded nested bundles; shows sender, address, types, values, original bundle timetags and raw packet data. Supports JSON export including filtered events.
36 tests pass, including isolated UDP exclusivity, continued original-listener delivery, no-reply and bounded-queue checks. Native loopback capture/inspection/export verified. See docs/OSC-VALIDATION.md for evidence and practical limits.
macOS 13+, Apple Silicon. Ad-hoc signed, not Apple-notarized. PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0. A dedicated unused port is required; this does not sniff traffic sent to other apps. No TCP/IPv6, multicast discovery, OSCQuery or forwarding. History is bounded; UDP/network losses remain possible.
CLR MIDI Monitor 1.0.2
CLR MIDI Monitor 1.0.2
First public release of the native Apple Silicon macOS application.
Includes source/destination selection with All checkboxes; automatic preparation of the bundled output observer before CoreMIDI starts; direct virtual MIDI reception; a compact latest-event row and shared history; format/category filters; Inspect with raw UMP; JSON export in the File menu; a collapsible Options sidebar; a red OFF overlay; and an offline manual in the Help menu.
Version 1.0.2 also makes the CLR logo a link to the Custom Live Rigs website. Right-click the logo to copy the address; if the browser cannot be opened, the app copies the address and explains what happened.
Multiple windows remain available and share one capture session. Export includes all retained events, regardless of display filters.
Distribution notes
This build is ad-hoc signed, not Apple Developer ID signed or notarized. macOS may block downloaded copies. Source and local build instructions are provided. The output observer is optional for inputs/direct reception, is bundled with the app, prepares itself automatically and never forces a MIDI-server restart.
Known limits
MIDI 2.0 semantic decoding, SysEx reassembly, capture import/session reopening and Intel binaries are not included. Sender-app names are not supplied by CoreMIDI output observation; OUT rows name destinations. Retained history is limited to 10,000 events. Monitoring has finite capacity and CPU overhead.
License
Source-available under PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0. Commercial-use permission is not granted. Public visibility does not grant write access to the original repository.
Validation
21 unit tests pass, plus isolated driver overload/memory-safety and Swift IPC tests. CoreMIDI output to Kenton has been reported working by the owner. The release-session controlled live probe did not send anything because another monitor owned the driver subscription; broad live/stage qualification and CPU benchmarks remain outstanding.
Only one app process runs per user, including copies launched from other folders. A second launch activates the existing app. File → New Window still opens another view of the shared capture.
CLR MIDI Monitor 1.0.1
Output observation is now prepared automatically before CoreMIDI starts. There is no separate driver download or install button. User-facing output states are simplified, while input monitoring and direct software reception remain available if output observation is unavailable. This build remains ad-hoc signed and is not notarized.
