LabLLM Beta 0.1: Teach Tiny Brains

LabLLM Beta 0.1 is the first public beta of a native macOS lab for building small language models with Apple MLX.

This beta includes:

• Model builder with GPT-style presets and live estimates
• Pre-training and fine-tuning data flows
• Hugging Face dataset browsing and importing
• Training dashboard with loss, validation loss, progress, and live samples
• Sampling playground, chat, checkpoints, and model management
• Local MLX Metal library bundled for easier startup from the packaged app
• A refreshed README and release-ready app package

Known beta notes:

• macOS 14+ and Apple Silicon required
• The app is ad-hoc signed, not notarized
• Some advanced tools are still evolving and may be rough around the edges
