  • Changed scoop cleanup and scoop cache rm commands to run in background jobs
  • Background jobs completely isolate console output, preventing progress bars from appearing
  • Maintains clean UI during package manager cleanup operations

  • Polls job output every 100ms to capture Scoop's cleanup messages
  • Shows "• Removing [app] [version]" for each package being cleaned

Technical Details

• Problem: Scoop writes progress bars using [Console]::Write() or VT100 escape sequences
• Why stream redirection failed: 2>&1 | Out-Null only captures PowerShell streams, not direct console writes
• Solution: Start-Job { scoop cleanup * 2>&1 } runs in separate process with isolated console
• Progress capture: Receive-Job polls output stream and parses "Removing" messages
• Performance: Negligible overhead (~1-2 seconds) for operations that already take 10+ seconds
