v0.1.0-alpha — NOT PLAYABLE
dmc-recomp v0.1.0-alpha — NOT PLAYABLE
⚠️ Pre-release. NOT PLAYABLE. This is a development snapshot of a
static-recompilation bring-up of Devil May Cry (PS2, PALSLES_503.58).
You cannot play the game with it.
Source only — bring your own game
This release contains only this repository's source code, patches and
documentation. It does not contain, and will never contain:
- the game, its ISO or its ELF;
- recompiled game code or any executable built from it;
- checkpoints, memory dumps, extracted assets or other material derived from
the game.
To build it you need your own legally obtained copy of the game and must
generate everything locally (see the README "Build" and "Reproducibility"
sections). Only SLES_503.58 with SHA-256
d0753a6b3b2f00802a50758a872d8cf051725aa31c839aa8894eee30ce58bab4 is
supported.
Highlights
- Boots the original ELF to the title screen and main menu; PSS movies play.
- NEW GAME: the intro movie plays and the real-time 3D office cutscene no
longer stalls (in one ~46-minute Release run its event script reached its
end); visual defects remain. - First audible game audio: the cutscene's XAG voice track, through an HLE of
the game'sTSNDDRVM.IRXsound driver reconstructed from the IRX.
Known limitations
- Stops after the intro at
sceDmaRecvI(IPU movie textures, not emulated). - Very slow: ~3–4 VSync/s in 3D scenes (PAL runs at 50); VU1 interpreter-bound.
- Only XAG voice audio; no sound effects, music or movie audio; voice is not
synchronized with the picture. - Visual defects in 3D scenes; diagnostic
ret0overrides remain. - Tested only on Windows 11 x64 / Visual Studio 2022.
