Blockout v5.0.0-windows.2 — Unofficial Gumbii Community Build

This unsigned Windows 11 x64 prerelease supersedes v5.0.0-windows.1. It adds
the completed file-level modification notices and keeps the previously tested
Windows implementation unchanged.

  • Source commit: 37452cb9c829012fd291561488912e7aad867297
  • Installer SHA-256: 0907564205e571bf0d29f45f7e0fe69962058992561694d6d24250c224892316
  • Installation: per-user NSIS assisted installer; no administrator access required
  • Identity: distinct Gumbii app ID, shortcuts, configuration root, and uninstall entry
  • Runtime: packaged audited FFmpeg/FFprobe and packaged MCP bridge
  • Compliance: Apache-2.0 application notices, FFmpeg GPL source/provenance, third-party notices, asset manifest, SPDX SBOM, CycloneDX SBOM, and build provenance

The installer is unsigned. Windows SmartScreen may display an “Unknown
publisher” warning. Verify the installer against SHA256SUMS, then choose
More info → Run anyway only if the checksum matches.

This is an unofficial community build. Original Blockout authorship and Sam
Wasserman credit are preserved; the Windows port is maintained by Gumbii
Digital.

Superseded: Use v5.0.0-windows.2. The newer build preserves this release and adds complete file-level modification notices plus the final exact Windows QA evidence.

Blockout v5.0.0-windows.1 — Unofficial Gumbii Community Build

This is an open-source, unofficial community Windows port of Blockout by Sam Wasserman. It is not an official Wasserman Productions Windows release.

Platform and installation

  • Windows 11 x64 is the certified target. Windows 10 is best effort.
  • The assisted NSIS installer is per-user, requires no administrator access, and allows an install-directory choice.
  • This prerelease is intentionally unsigned. Windows SmartScreen may show an “unrecognized app” warning. Verify the SHA-256 below, then choose More info → Run anyway only if you trust this release.
  • Code signing and automatic updates are not included in this prerelease.
  • The community app uses a distinct application ID, executable, shortcuts, data root, and uninstall identity so it does not replace a future official Blockout Windows edition.

What is included

  • Native Windows chrome and Windows-aware labels.
  • Portable Blockout project paths and Windows-safe project/export filenames.
  • Packaged FFmpeg/FFprobe, so no system FFmpeg installation is required.
  • Process-tree-aware export cancellation and portable animation concat handling.
  • Packaged Blockout MCP bridge and versioned local-control discovery.
  • SPDX and CycloneDX SBOMs, third-party notices, asset manifest, checksums, build provenance, and corresponding FFmpeg/build-script source.

Licensing

Blockout source remains available under Apache-2.0 with the original LICENSE, NOTICE, Sam Wasserman credit, copyright, and citation metadata preserved. “Windows port maintained by Gumbii Digital” identifies the downstream maintenance work.

The packaged FFmpeg/FFprobe pair is a separate GPL-3.0-or-later component; the installer must not be described as Apache-only. Its GPL text, exact binary/build provenance, checksums, FFmpeg source archive, and BtbN build-script archive are included as release assets.

Verification

  • Source/tag commit: 161b62681bc38a82d698d3bfa0e0266a40eb0ea4
  • Validated GitHub Actions run: https://github.com/GumbiiDigital/blockout/actions/runs/29133227299
  • Installer SHA-256: 2d37c13371575dd8409d3b917e3c70e1101fa6354210040e143671282c08d6bc
  • Installer size: 178815573 bytes
  • Complete CI artifact ZIP SHA-256: 5c4853a7596618c4cba3dacbaa33f2bfb5d7ce23a5be4ee5c39dbeebc27eb080

The installer has a GitHub build-provenance attestation bound to the source commit and .github/workflows/windows-release.yml. The exact downloaded installer also passed native Windows 11 x64 install, launch, packaged-runtime, MCP/control-health, shortcut, and uninstall checks on LAKESIDEDM.

SHA256SUMS uses the CI bundle layout. Extract blockout-gumbii-community-windows-x64.zip to retain that layout and verify every distributed file in one command.
