Installation

Hakamiq CHD Tool is distributed as a Windows x64 desktop application.

Download

• Releases
• Source code
• Security policy

Download one of these packages:

• self-contained: recommended for most users. Includes the required runtime.
• runtime-required: smaller package. Requires .NET 8 Desktop Runtime.

Install / Run

1. Download the ZIP package.
2. Extract the ZIP file to a normal folder, for example:

C:\Tools\HakamiqChdTool

3. Open the extracted folder.
4. Run:

HakamiqChdTool.exe

Runtime-required package

If you downloaded the runtime-required package, install:

.NET 8 Desktop Runtime

Then run HakamiqChdTool.exe again.

Recommended setup

Use a normal user-accessible folder, such as:

C:\Tools\HakamiqChdTool

or:

D:\Apps\HakamiqChdTool

Avoid running the app directly from:

• inside the ZIP file
• protected system folders
• temporary download preview locations
• folders that require administrator access for normal file operations

Windows requirements

• Windows 10 build 17763 / version 1809 or later
• Windows 11 recommended
• Windows x64
• .NET 8 Desktop Runtime only if using the runtime-required package

First launch

On first launch, the app may prepare its internal tools and settings folder.

Hakamiq CHD Tool includes an embedded chdman runtime for normal use. You can also select an external chdman.exe from the app settings if needed.

Important notes

• Do not run the app directly from the ZIP file.
• Extract the package before using it.
• Keep the app folder in a stable location.
• The app is designed for users managing their own legally obtained disc images.
• The app does not include games, ROMs, BIOS files, copyrighted disc images, decryption keys, firmware, Disc Keys, or Redump databases.
• Users are responsible for processing only files they have the legal right to use.

If you keep custom settings or logs, back up the app data before replacing folders.
