This guide explains the basic workflow for using Hakamiq CHD Tool.

Hakamiq CHD Tool is designed to help users prepare, review, and convert supported disc image inputs to CHD through a clear local workflow.

Before you start

Make sure the application is extracted to a normal local folder before running it.

Do not run the application directly from a ZIP archive.

Use a location such as:

C:\Tools\HakamiqChdTool

Avoid restricted locations such as:

C:\Program Files
C:\Windows

Basic workflow

The normal workflow is:

1. Open Hakamiq CHD Tool.
2. Add one or more supported source files or folders.
3. Review the detected items.
4. Select or confirm the output location.
5. Review conversion options.
6. Start the queue.
7. Wait for the conversion process to finish.
8. Review the final result for each item.

Adding files

Add only files or folders that belong to a supported disc image workflow.

For multi-file disc images, keep companion files together in the same folder.

For example, a CUE/BIN image should keep the .cue file and related .bin files together.

Output folder

Choose an output folder with enough free space.

Avoid writing output files to restricted folders or unstable removable storage unless you are sure the device is healthy.

If the output file already exists, the tool may skip the item to avoid overwriting existing data.

Queue behavior

Hakamiq CHD Tool processes items through a queue.

Each item should end with a clear result, such as:

• Success
• Failed
• Skipped because output already exists
• Canceled by the user

Canceled operations should be treated separately from failed conversions.

Canceling a conversion

If you press cancel, the current operation may stop before completion.

A canceled operation may leave a partial output file depending on when the cancellation happened.

Review the output folder before retrying the same item.

Storage warnings

Large conversions can create sustained read and write activity.

If the tool shows a storage or temperature warning, review it carefully before continuing.

Repeated read errors, slow performance, or failures at the same point may indicate a damaged source file or a storage problem.

Redump information

When available, Redump-related information may help identify disc metadata and verification details.

Redump information is informational and should not be treated as a guarantee that every source is valid, complete, or convertible.

PS3 experimental inputs

Sony PlayStation 3 support is experimental.

PS3-related inputs may be analyzed, classified, skipped, or rejected depending on the detected structure and safety checks.

Detection does not always mean conversion is supported.

Common safe practices

Keep source files in a stable local folder.

Keep companion files together.

Do not rename only part of a multi-file disc image.

Make sure the output drive has enough free space.

Avoid running large conversions from damaged or unstable drives.

Review warnings before continuing.

After conversion

After the queue finishes, review the result for each item.

If an item failed or was skipped, check the displayed reason before retrying.

If a source repeatedly fails at the same point, verify the original file and storage device before attempting another conversion.
