KursorFlame v2.5.0 - Advanced Customization Edition

The most customizable version yet! Full control over every aspect of the flame effect. Now available on both Linux and Windows.

What's New in v2.5

Windows Native Build (NEW!)

For the first time, KursorFlame v2.5 is available as a native Windows build — not a portability shim, but a true Win32 + DirectX application built from the ground up for Windows 10/11.

Feature Implementation
NVIDIA GPU Direct3D 11 device explicitly created on the NVIDIA adapter (DXGI VendorId 0x10DE), falls back to default adapter if absent
DirectX 11 Direct3D 11 + DXGI 1.4 + DirectComposition for true per-pixel alpha overlay
Multi-core CPU Thread pool uses hardware_concurrency() workers — all CPU cores, not just 2
AVX2 / Haswell Compiled with /arch:AVX2 /fp:fast /GL /LTCG; runtime __cpuidex check with graceful error for unsupported CPUs
Thread-local RNG Eliminates data races across worker threads (each core gets its own generator)
Single-instance lock Named mutex prevents multiple overlay processes from running simultaneously
64-bit Verified x86-64 (8664 machine) via PE header check
Stack safety Engine heap-allocated (1.4 MB > 1 MB Windows default stack)

Custom Quality Profile (quality=4)

Create your own quality preset with fine-grained control:

Setting Description Range
q_spawn_base Particles per tick 0-5000
q_smoke_max Max smoke particles 0-5000
particle_life_sec Particle lifespan 0-600 sec
q_particle_size Global size multiplier 0-10
q_softness Blur/softness radius 0-15
q_jitter_int Flicker intensity 0-10
q_smoke_blend Smoke blend mode 0=Additive, 1=Alpha
q_render_style Particle shape 0=Teardrop, 1=Soft, 2=Shaded

SubEffects Customization

Customize every color effect:

Effect Settings
Overall overall_opacity (0-255)
Strike (fast-click) strike_r/g/b/a
Click (normal) click_r/g/b/a
Scroll (wheel) scroll_r/g/b/a
Tail tail_len_mult, tail_thick_mult
Wave wave_amp, wave_freq

10-Level Custom Theme Gradient (theme=4)

Create smooth color transitions:

  • Define 10 color levels (l0_r/g/b through l9_r/g/b)
  • Control cycle speed with gradient_speed and gradient_reverse_speed
  • Perfect for creating unique animated color schemes

Render Styles

Style Description
0 - Teardrop Classic flame shape
1 - Soft Blob Modern, smooth particles
2 - Shaded Fluid, gradient particles

Theme-Specific Physics (Windows v2.5)

Each theme now has unique internal physics for a distinct feel:

Theme Physics
Fire (0) White-hot core (life > 0.85), strong upward rise, additive blending
Snow (1) Slow gentle fall, lateral drift (sine-wave sway), bright white particles
Water (2) Alpha blending (glassy, no color stacking), viscous damping, slow liquid flow

Performance Improvements

  • 30,000 particle capacity (up from 5,000)
  • 10,000 smoke capacity (up from 500)
  • Linux: Optimized CPU dual-core rendering
  • Windows: Multi-core rendering using ALL CPU cores + AVX2 SIMD
