Thanks for the reply ... i will let you know the errors created in macOS
environment when compiling under pip venv
I would rather use a pip venv compared to Docker [although i can run but
not familiar with it]
I see in your instruction for telegram.. there is no code to enable an
allowlist of user-ids.
thanking you in advance

PS.... please find included the pip errors i ran into when running under
macOS Tahoe... running under Docker is ok.. but not too familiar with
docker from a cli point of view

Billy — I'm sorry for the delay, and I'm sorry for the runaround. My
earlier reply was the problem: I gave you the channels commands without
first checking which version you were on, and that's why the last few
rounds went nowhere.
I went back and checked the published packages, and I think this explains
it:
version released channels command
0.1.10 2026-06-19 not present
0.1.11 2026-07-10 present
0.1.12 2026-07-22 present
The IM channel support only shipped in 0.1.11. On 0.1.10 and earlier the
CLI has no channels subcommand at all, so it rejects the argument and
prints its usage line together with the list of commands it does accept —
which I suspect is the "help output" you were seeing.
Could you confirm with these two, so we're not guessing again?
vibe-trading --version
python -m pip show vibe-trading-ai
If it is 0.1.10 or older, upgrading that same environment should be enough:
python -m pip install -U "vibe-trading-ai[telegram]"hash -r
vibe-trading channels status --local
*On the sender allowlist* — you were right to ask, and I should have
covered it the first time. It does exist. In ~/.vibe-trading/agent.json:
{
"channels": {
"telegram": {
"enabled": true,
"token": ***@***.***>",
"allow_from": ["123456789"]
}
}
}
allow_from takes numeric Telegram user IDs. The order it checks is * →
allowlist → pairing store → deny, so if you leave allow_from empty nobody
gets through until they pair. If you'd rather not hunt for the numeric ID,
you can leave it empty, DM the bot to get a pairing code, and approve it:
vibe-trading channels pairing --channel telegram approve <code>
*On the macOS pip install failure* — I'm afraid your attachments reached
us as [image: Screenshot ...] placeholders; GitHub drops image
attachments from emailed replies, so there was nothing for me to read.
Would you mind pasting the failure as text in a comment here, starting from
the first ERROR: line? I'd rather work from the actual output than guess
at it a second time.
Thanks for your patience on this, and sorry again for the wasted rounds.

i am at version 0.1.11... i will test telegram again.. i think it does not
work...
you should change like openclaw has a field called auto-approve=true so
there is never a need
for anyone at the server to run an approval command
I might upgrade 0.1.12 before testing telegram again

Hi Billy — let's get Telegram working. Full steps from where you are: 1. Upgrade and install the Telegram extra (the Telegram SDK is optional, so it needs the bracket): 2. Create a bot and get its token. In Telegram, talk to 3. Create (or edit) {

Anyone listed in allowFrom (numeric Telegram ID or username) is allowed
immediately, no approval command on the server, ever. The /pairing
approval flow only applies to senders who are *not* on that list. There
is also "allowFrom": ["*"] which allows everyone — I'd avoid that: anyone
who finds your bot could run research on your server.
*One more thing: your screenshots never arrived.* You're replying by
email, and GitHub drops email attachments — on our side every [image: ...]

the images (and the macOS pip error as text) directly? Happy to dig into
the Tahoe pip errors once I can actually see them — in the meantime staying
on Docker as your fallback is perfectly fine.

Billy — thanks for the full terminal output, that's exactly what was missing. Two separate things are going on here, and neither of them is Telegram. 1. The macOS install failure is a Python version problem. Your venv is on Python 3.14 (the log shows One of our dependencies ( cd ~/Desktop/Vibe-Trading

There was an error while loading. Please reload this page.
Firstly....
on Linux.... creating a virtual env and pip install application works
on macOS.... venv and pip fails.... but running on Docker is fine
However, there is not enough information on how to install or activate Telegram in both the above environment.
Please can someone who is knowledgeable on this app help.. me here or update the documentation?????
Other than that the reports produced by the system is amazing and more detailed than what i have been used to.. eg. Hermes with FPM
Thanks in anticipation
