Fusegrid v2.3.1

Choose a tag to compare

@HMarzban HMarzban released this 02 Nov 13:39

Play in the browser: https://hmarzban.github.io/fusegrid/ — CLASSIC 2D · PIXEL · REAL 3D, Heat CORE / PLUS / MAX. Installs as an app and plays offline after the first visit.

Everything since v2.3.0 (PWA shell v198 → v200). Full detail per shell revision is in CHANGELOG.md.

Highlights

  • TRAP warning (v199) — once a trap starts to wind up, corner marks show every tile its blast will hit, with a short sound.
  • A tile won't close your only way out (v199) — a CONVEYOR or STREAM holds a bomb rather than carry it to where you'd have nowhere safe to go, and a GATE holds open rather than shut you in with a foe or a blast.
  • Shorter pause entering rooms 1, 4, 7 and 8 (v199) — boards build many times faster, and they're the same boards as before.

Changed

  • Tips say what the tile does (v199, v200) — TRAP at MAX says it hurts only you and that the first 6 seconds of the room are safe. GATE says it can wait.
  • Shared links and dailies keep their boards but play by the new rules, so a day's daily tries can span versions.

Fixes

  • PASS no longer stops a CONVEYOR, STREAM or GATE for nothing (v200).

Known

  • The tiles haven't been playtested by people yet, so expect tuning. For the test bot, STREAM, QUICKSAND, PORTAL and GATE still don't make MAX any harder.
  • A carried bomb can occasionally jump back almost a tile when a hold kicks in as it arrives.
  • Not tested yet on real phones, Safari or Firefox. The speed numbers come from a slowed laptop.

Fusegrid v2.3.0

@HMarzban HMarzban released this 02 Nov 08:57

Play in the browser: https://hmarzban.github.io/fusegrid/ — CLASSIC 2D · PIXEL · REAL 3D, Heat CORE / PLUS / MAX. Installs as an app and plays offline after the first visit.

Everything since v2.2.0 (PWA shell v188 → v198). Full detail per shell revision is in CHANGELOG.md.

Highlights

  • Eight floor tiles, one per world (v198) — every ordinary run and the DAILY now have a floor that does something. On CORE a tile helps you; on MAX it fights you. A tile never starts damage on its own, and GUIDE → FLOOR explains each one.
    • BOOSTER (JUNGLE) throws your blast further.
    • ICE PATCH (ICE) keeps you sliding; on MAX you need the brake.
    • CONVEYOR (FACTORY) carries your bombs; on MAX it carries everyone.
    • STREAM (WATER) floats bombs and slows anyone wading in it.
    • TRAP (ARENA) is a lure on CORE and a hazard on MAX.
    • QUICKSAND (SAND) grows bricks back on open sand.
    • PORTAL (VOID) warps you and moving bombs to its twin; blasts from PLUS, foes on MAX.
    • GATE (CROWN) shuts behind you, and on a room clock at PLUS and MAX.
  • Tiles explain themselves (v195) — one short tip the first time you meet each tile, and a FLOOR line on the LEVEL SELECT room card.
  • Hunters warn you before they charge (v189) — FAST, CHASER and KNIGHT mark the floor down the lane when they lock on to you, in all three looks.
  • Loading bar (v197) — a slow connection shows real progress instead of a blank page, and a plain message with RETRY if a file can't load.
  • Smoother REAL 3D between worlds (v197) — shaders stay compiled from room to room, which removes most of the hitch on entering a new world.

Changed

  • Challenge links for tile boards are F3 codes. F1 and F2 links still open their own boards. An older copy of the game can't read an F3 link and just starts normally; updating fixes it.
  • DAILY plays tile boards from 2026-11-02, so that day's daily starts fresh at TRY 1.
  • Bests and times still count by difficulty and room, so tiles change how hard your old records are to beat.
  • The ?gen=3 preview is gone. Old preview links open the normal game.
  • The K key does nothing now (v193). KICK has always been passive: walk into a bomb.

Fixes

  • PIXEL SAND floors no longer look like bricks (v190).
  • Every floor tile passes a colour-blind check at every heat (v189).

Known

  • The tiles haven't been playtested by people yet, so expect tuning. They were checked by automated tests and a test bot, and for that bot the four newer tiles don't yet make MAX any harder.
  • A slow phone may pause briefly on entering rooms 1, 4 and 7 while the board builds.
  • Not tested yet on real phones, Safari or Firefox.

Fusegrid v2.2.0

@HMarzban HMarzban released this 26 Oct 10:05

Play in the browser: https://hmarzban.github.io/fusegrid/ — CLASSIC 2D · PIXEL · REAL 3D, Heat CORE / PLUS / MAX. Installs as an app and plays offline after the first visit.

Everything since v2.1.0 (PWA shell v178 → v188). Full detail per shell revision is in CHANGELOG.md.

Highlights

  • A new board every run (v188) — every PLAY, PAUSE RESTART and GAME OVER retry deals a fresh board; losing a life keeps the one you're on. No new screens, no new keys.
  • Bold mazes (v188) — fourteen room shapes, one per world and three each for WATER, ARENA and CROWN. Heat changes only the bricks.
  • A fair start (v188) — you begin sealed in a brick corner and bomb your way out. Every foe starts at least 10 steps away; hunters, phantoms, rockets and shades at least 12. Every board passes a fairness check before you see it.
  • PIXEL, a third look (v178) — hand-drawn sprites over the same board, beside CLASSIC 2D and REAL 3D. It loads only when you pick it.
  • A new board look (v185) — living-world walls, a frame per world, depth and shadows, ambient motion, and livelier foes and pickups in all three looks.
  • New menus (v180–v181) — a console-panel menu with a live preview, a LEVEL SELECT that shows each room before you start, and phone menus that use the whole screen.
  • GRAPHICS settings (v178) — QUALITY BATTERY / AUTO / HIGH, or tune frame rate, resolution, shadows, anti-aliasing and effects yourself. Menus and pause run cooler and quieter.
  • Pickups that talk back (v178) — a floating label with your new value, a pulsing HUD chip, an ability bar, and THROW / REMOTE buttons on phones.
  • GUIDE — animated HOW TO, ITEMS and ENEMIES pages, plus a FLOOR page previewing the floor tiles that are coming.
  • NEW VERSION READY (v180) — the game tells you when an update is waiting and reloads only when you say so. The build number shows on the menu (v183).
  • Opt-in play stats (v185–v187) — a small corner card asks once; nothing is sent unless you say ALLOW, and OPTIONS can switch it off.

Changed

  • Challenge links for the new mazes are F2 codes. F1 links still open the original boards, forever. An older copy of the game can't read an F2 link and just starts normally; updating fixes it.
  • DAILY plays the new mazes from 2026-10-26, so that day's daily starts fresh at TRY 1.
  • Ghost races run only on DAILY and challenge boards, the boards you can play twice. Ghosts saved before v188 are cleared once.
  • Rooms play differently — about 17 fewer bricks a room means faster clears and less brick score, so older score bests get harder to beat. Bests and times still count by difficulty and room.

Fixes

  • SHRINK walls show up in REAL 3D (v183).
  • The kick hint says WALK INTO BOMB (v184).
  • The play-stats card and the NEW VERSION READY card now close when answered (v186).
  • Phone taps in the menus land where they're drawn, and LEVEL SELECT no longer promises a time early (v180–v181).

Fusegrid v2.1.0

@HMarzban HMarzban released this 10 Oct 14:15

Play in the browser: https://hmarzban.github.io/fusegrid/ — REAL 3D ⇄ CLASSIC 2D, Heat CORE / PLUS / MAX. Installs as an app and plays offline after the first visit.

Everything since v2.0.0 (PWA shell v103 → v177). Full detail per shell revision is in CHANGELOG.md.

Highlights

  • MAKO, a new hero — a reef-critter mascot with ear-fins and a grin, the same character in CLASSIC 2D and REAL 3D. The app icons were redrawn as MAKO's face.
  • A new opening — a FUSE/GRID title, then a short show: the camera sweeps in, MAKO lights a fuse, and the blast reveals the menu. Music starts on your first press, and any key skips the show.
  • Explosions that look 3D — in REAL 3D, blasts are billowing fireballs with a glowing plate on every tile that can hurt you.
  • New REAL 3D camera — a lower 3/4 view that fills more of the screen. On the near edge the wall is cut down so you can always see who is standing there.
  • Soundtrack v3 — a separate theme for each room, every one at its own tempo.
  • Keep coming back
    • DAILY: one board a day.
    • Challenge codes: B copies a board you can send to a friend.
    • Run summary: shows a delta only when you set a real record.
    • STATS: lifetime totals plus DAYS PLAYED.
    • Eight medals: each one is earned on a finale clear.
    • Ghost replay: race your fastest clear of a room.
    • Reset my cabinet: clears your progress and keeps your settings.
  • Arcade feel — combo and chain callouts, a close-call flash, TIME ATTACK, and short tips the first time you can kick, throw or use a remote.
  • Phones — the controls sit off the board. On a portrait phone the board moves up under pause during a run, and the D-pad and bomb button are bigger and sit low, under your thumbs. Music now starts reliably after a tap.
  • OPTIONS and GUIDE — volumes, RENDER, camera presets, brightness, shake and reduce-flash, plus in-menu HOW TO, ITEMS and ENEMIES.

Fixes

  • Enter works on the end screen. C and B say COPIED, or COPY FAILED.
  • On STATS, C (or a tap on its label) copies your stats and confirms it.
  • R and M leave the attract demo like any other key.
  • On a fresh browser start, the first press of the opening no longer stutters.
  • Menu sounds no longer play late if you press a key before the audio is ready.
  • On a phone, the pause button no longer covers your score.

Everything the game remembers stays in your browser's local storage. There is no account and no server.
