Some players run into problems trying to get Homeworld Remastered to launch and run properly. They may experience crashing, graphic issues, audio issues, and multiplayer syncing. Players are encouraged to review the Master Troubleshooting Guide to resolve these problems. Additional information is below.
- The HwRM.log file is the most useful crash log. However it is over-written each time the game is started. So its important to grab this file before starting the game again. This log becomes even more useful when the -luatrace command line parameter is used.
- Access violations/crashes generate three logs in the release folder. These logs are useful to Gearbox developers, but may not be very useful to the rest of us:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release
- XX-XX-20XX_ErrorLog.txt
- XX-XX-20XX_MiniDump.dmp
- homeworldrm_1237961_crash_20XX_5_19T23_10_46C0.mdmp
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\Bin\Release
- Pressing Alt+F4 or ending the game via task manager both close the game cleanly with no crash logs. Note: the cursor will change to an eye icon as soon as Alt is pressed.
- Multiplayer syncs generate logs in the syncerror folder like this:
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\Bin\SYNCERROR\
- sync-5BE353028492499497CBBC1022F397F3-00005994-DOOS-PLAYER-Kick-110000101FD47E5.sav
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Homeworld\HomeworldRM\Bin\SYNCERROR\
