AshDrive v1.0.0 - Fixed Windows build (buttons, taskbar icon, fullscreen)
AshDrive v1.0.0 - Fixed Windows build
Flash drive backup for Windows and macOS. Plug in a drive you've set up and AshDrive backs it up automatically - no manual copy, nothing to forget.
Fixed in this build
- Buttons now work on Windows. A window drag-region was intercepting clicks on the top bar, so Settings and other buttons did nothing. Removed it and added automated UI tests (Playwright) that click every button to prove they fire - not just a boot check.
- Taskbar / tray icon now shows. The app icon wasn't packaged into the app bundle, so Windows fell back to a generic icon in the taskbar, alt-tab, and tray. The icons are now included.
- Opens full-screen. The window launches maximized instead of a small 940x660 box, and the layout stays centered and readable at any size.
How it works now
- Launch AshDrive - it lives in your tray / menu bar and watches for drives.
- Click Add drive -> pick the detected flash drive -> choose a backup folder -> name it -> pick Ask (prompt before each backup) or Auto (back up on insert, just notify).
- Unplug and re-plug the drive - AshDrive backs it up (or asks first). Backups are incremental: only new or changed files are copied, and nothing is ever deleted from the backup.
A drive is recognized by its volume label + size, so it stays "your drive" even if Windows assigns it a different letter next time.
Install
Windows - run AshDrive-Setup-1.0.0.exe. Unsigned, so SmartScreen may warn -> More info -> Run anyway.
macOS - open the .dmg, drag AshDrive to Applications. Unsigned: right-click -> Open the first time, or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/AshDrive.app in Terminal.
