DriverStore Manager 1.3.0.0
What's new
- Protect packages: mark packages that must never be removed. The
protection is per package (name, original INF and version), is kept between
sessions, and is respected by bulk selections and by every removal. - Del key: removes the selected packages, with the usual confirmation.
- Add only newer packages: new checkbox in the folder dialog of
Add driver packages and Add and install. Older or identical packages are
skipped; the rest are added. Uses the same old/newer rules as the list.
Works for the running system and for offline images. - Remove disconnected devices: removes the disconnected (ghost) devices
that use the selected packages, after checking again that they are not
plugged in. The driver packages are not removed. - The driver date can now be searched in the filter box.
Notes
- Windows 10/11, x64. No installation needed; run as administrator.
- Packages in use are still refused by Windows; DSM shows them in the
In use column and warns before removing.
DriverStore Manager 1.2.0.0
New in 1.2.0.0
- Verify backup: Drivers > Verify backup... checks every file of a backup or
export folder against the SHA-256 recorded in its manifest.txt, without
restoring anything. - Problem devices: View > Show only packages used by devices with a problem
lists the packages bound to a plugged-in device that Device Manager reports
with a problem code. The code appears in the Devices column. - Copy: right-click > Copy cell text, and Copy selected rows (tab-separated,
with the column titles, ready to paste into Excel). - Ctrl+F goes to the filter box.
Requires Windows 10 version 1607 or later (64-bit) and administrator rights.
Copy DriverStoreManager.exe to a folder that only administrators can write to.
DriverStore Manager 1.1.0.0: complete reading and exports that match the window
What's new
- Packages are now read directly from the Driver Store (drvstore.dll), online and
from offline images, including Windows PE environments where DISM is limited. - New columns: Install date (UTC), Signature, Signer, Extension ID, Device ID and
Driver files. Hover any cell to see its full text. - Install date is shown in UTC, so the same package reads the same online and offline.
- Export list (CSV and JSON) now produces exactly what the window shows: same
columns, same order, same text.
Changed
- The export layout differs from 1.0.0.0 (column names, Size and Boot-critical
are text as in the window). Scripts that read the old files need an update.
Unchanged
- Adding, removing and restoring packages work as before (pnputil online,
DISM offline), with backups verified by SHA-256.
Requires Windows 10 version 1607 or later (64-bit) and administrator rights.
DriverStore Manager 1.0.0.0
First release.
Features
- Lists every third-party driver package (oemNN.inf) in the Windows Driver Store, with the devices that use it, plugged in or not.
- Marks packages as Old (superseded or duplicate), Review (version and date disagree) or Latest.
- Backs up every package before removing it, verified file by file with SHA-256. A package whose backup failed is never removed.
- Restore backup: checks each file against the backup manifest and reinstalls only intact packages.
- Offline Windows images (recovery, Windows PE): list, remove, add, export and restore through the DISM API.
- Add and install driver packages, export packages, export the list to CSV or JSON.
- Signature, Device ID and Driver path columns; filters for old packages and for packages used only by disconnected devices.
- Remembers options, sorting, column widths and window position.
- Single native executable: no .NET, no PowerShell.
Requirements
- Windows 10 version 1607 or later, 64-bit, administrator rights.
Known issue
- In some Windows PE builds (seen on Strelec), reading the running PE fails with error 0x8007051A. Offline images still work.
Removing drivers can leave a computer unable to start. Keep the backups the program makes.
