SimpleToken 0.1.2

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 05 Oct 15:55
v0.1.2
6fed573

More data in the menu bar, in the same space.

New

  • Two new menu bar styles. Compact stacks two values per column, fitting about twice as many into the same width. Nested rings puts up to three limits into one set of rings, in the spirit of Apple's Activity rings, with the first two percentages beside it.
  • Pace and projection on rings and bars. A marker shows where even use would be by now: if the filled part has passed it, you are using the window faster than it lasts. A fainter extension shows where the window is heading by its reset at the current pace. Turn it off in Settings → Menu Bar.
  • Mini charts in the menu bar. Last 7 days draws a bar per day with today in full strength. Today by hour draws a bar per hour from Claude Code's logs, with the hours still to come as dots.
  • A style gallery in Settings. Every style is drawn with the items you picked, so you can compare them before choosing.

Install

Requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon.

Download SimpleToken-0.1.2.zip below, unzip it and move SimpleToken.app to /Applications, replacing the older version (quit it first). Your settings and history stay as they are. The app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple.

The SHA-256 of the zip is in SimpleToken-0.1.2.zip.sha256.

SimpleToken 0.1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 05 Oct 14:54
v0.1.1
fd87be8

This release changes how SimpleToken is built and shipped. The app itself works as in 0.1.0.

Changes

  • Notarized by Apple. The app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized, so macOS opens it without the "cannot check for malicious software" warning and without any extra steps.
  • No build-machine details in the app. Release builds no longer carry file paths from the machine that built them.
  • Built in the open. Releases are now built, signed and notarized by GitHub Actions from the tagged source, and every change on main is built and tested there.

Install

Requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon.

Download SimpleToken-0.1.1.zip below, unzip it and move SimpleToken.app to /Applications. If you installed 0.1.0, quit it first and replace it; your settings and history stay as they are.

SimpleToken lives in the menu bar: click its icon for the panel, or ⌥-click for the main window. See Getting your usage in for what to set up.

The SHA-256 of the zip is in SimpleToken-0.1.1.zip.sha256.

SimpleToken 0.1.0

@HanlunWang HanlunWang released this 05 Oct 14:08
6b68243

The download for 0.1.0 has been removed. Please get SimpleToken 0.1.1 instead: the same app, notarized by Apple, so it opens without a warning.

The first public release of SimpleToken: a native macOS menu-bar app and dashboard for your Claude Code and Codex usage. Tokens, cost and plan limits, all computed on your Mac.

Highlights

  • Dashboard of widgets in four sizes (small, medium, large, wide). Drag a widget to move it, right-click to resize it, and flip it over for its options and colour. Charts include cumulative usage against the previous period, plan limits with pace and a projection to the reset, models, a usage map and a tool-to-model flow, a calendar heatmap, a time-of-day punchcard, the token breakdown, this month's cost, and eight single-number stats.
  • Plan limits for the Claude session, weekly and model windows and for Codex, with optional notifications at thresholds you choose.
  • Menu bar item in four styles (text, two lines, rings, bars), and a drop-down panel with limits, today's usage, models, the last seven days and month-to-date cost.
  • Private by design. Usage comes from the local logs your tools already write. The only network request is the Claude plan-limit check, which uses a cookie you provide.
  • English and Simplified Chinese.

Install

Requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon.

  1. Download SimpleToken-0.1.0.zip below, unzip it and move SimpleToken.app to /Applications.

  2. This build is signed with a Developer ID but not yet notarized, so macOS will say it cannot check the app for malicious software. Open it once with right-click → Open, or run:

    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/SimpleToken.app

SimpleToken lives in the menu bar: click its icon for the panel, or ⌥-click for the main window. See Getting your usage in for what to set up.
