WhisperPal 0.2.1

Choose a tag to compare

@HanryYu HanryYu released this 26 Oct 05:16

The first release delivered through in-app updates, and Windows joins the macOS and Linux downloads.

New

  • About page — see your version, choose the Stable or Beta update channel, turn automatic checks on or off, and reach whisperpal.app from Settings → About.
  • Check for updates from the menu bar — the menu bar icon now has Check for Updates…, alongside the app menu. Updates never interrupt a recording.
  • Windows build — a Windows installer is available alongside macOS and Linux (AppImage, DEB and RPM).

Improved

  • Recording controls — an active meeting now sits in a compact toolbar control with details on click, instead of a full-width banner. Banners only appear for detection and permission prompts.
  • Recording capsule — the red timer marks a recording, and warnings appear in place of the title while the timer keeps running.
  • Audio recording pill — shows a level meter, the elapsed time and a stop button.
  • ChatGPT MCP setup — clearer guidance that direct setup works on ChatGPT web, desktop and mobile within your ChatGPT plan.

WhisperPal 0.2.0

@HanryYu HanryYu released this 25 Oct 13:52

WhisperLocal is now WhisperPal. Your library, settings, models and integrations carry over automatically.

New

  • Live transcript window — a floating, pinnable transcript that follows the meeting as it happens.
  • LAN transcription — pair another computer running WhisperPal and send recordings to it over an encrypted connection. Speaker recognition can run there too.
  • Remote MCP for every computer — one connection from Claude or ChatGPT reaches all of your paired computers. Transcript snapshots can optionally answer while a Mac is offline; audio never leaves your device.
  • More local engines — WhisperKit, Qwen3-ASR and Parakeet join Whisper, with recommendations for your Mac.
  • Bring your own AI — configure several AI and transcription providers, including the Codex, Claude Code and OpenCode CLIs.
  • Browser meetings — calls in Chrome, Edge, Safari, Arc and Dia are detected alongside native meeting apps.
  • Dictation styles — per-app styles, double-tap modifier shortcuts and push-to-talk.

Improved

  • Speaker recognition filters microphone bleed and remembers your corrections.
  • Meeting detection, calendar titles and recording reminders are more reliable.
  • Settings were rebuilt with clearer navigation.
  • AI summaries and chat render Markdown and stream faster.
  • Faster library loading and lower memory use for local models.
