v3.1.0
An MCP server, so an AI agent can drive a live session.
76 tools over the Model Context Protocol:
attach, scan, read and write memory, resolve symbols and pointer chains,
dissect structures, assemble and disassemble, set breakpoints, run the
access watch, patch code, allocate and inject, drive the speed hack, save
projects, move the window. Full reference in docs/mcp-api.md.
The server runs inside the application and shares its session, which is
the point. The process the agent attaches to is the one on your screen, a
scan it starts fills the Scanner panel while you watch it run, and an
address it finds appears in your address list a frame later. Start it from
View → MCP Server, or launch with --mcp [port].
Before you start it
Starting the server is the only thing you will be asked. Everywhere else
in Pointer Lab, anything that patches, injects into or detaches from a live
process asks first. This does not. While it is running, a client holding the
token can read and write the target's memory, patch its code, allocate, load
a DLL into it and start threads in it, with no further confirmation. The
decision is made once, at Start, and covers everything that follows.
It is off until you start it, binds 127.0.0.1 and nothing else, and
requires a per-session token that is regenerated on every start and never
written to disk. That is access control over the connection: it decides who
may call, not what they may call. Nothing an agent does is undone when it
disconnects, and the server is not stopped by detaching or by the target
exiting — stop it when you are done.
Compatibility
Nothing here changes what was already there. .iretable files are still
format version 3, every panel title, menu path and Lua function name is
where 3.0.0 left it, and a session saved by 3.0.0 opens unchanged. MCP tool
names join the frozen-name promise from this release on.
Release binaries are unsigned. Windows SmartScreen will warn on
first run, and antivirus software may flag the executable because it
reads and writes other processes' memory by design.
See THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md for licensing (Pointer Lab is GPLv2).
