v1.3.0

Real 60 fps

  • Picture > Frame rate now offers 60: the game's own logic runs at 60 fps, not frames drawn in between. On a real Vita it held 58-60 fps for about 95% of an hour of play; the heaviest scenes (the rainy bar entrance) drop toward 30, always at the right speed. It can be switched while playing. Off by default.
  • Things that counted frames instead of time were fixed so 60 plays exactly like 30: Windy's leaping creatures, a sound fade that never ended, falling drops, stuns, moving scenery and gravity steps.
  • The interpolated mode is gone from the menu (if you had it on, 60 is on now).

Camera

  • New option, Sticks and aiming > Camera: Avoids walls. The camera pulls in towards Conker instead of ending up behind a door, a pillar or a corner, and keeps the widescreen view from cutting into side walls. Only the follow camera in play; cutscenes are untouched. Off by default.

The B pads

  • The context-sensitive B pads carved on the ground (wood and stone) now show the Vita control you bound to B, carved in the same style, and follow your remapping.

Faster

  • Texture loads that repeat within a frame are skipped (a few percent less work in heavy scenes).

Updating keeps your saves and settings. On 1.0.0-1.2.0 the game offers this update at start-up (needs Enable Unsafe Homebrew).

v1.2.0

v1.2.0

The Vita's buttons in the game

  • Every N64 button picture the game draws (speech bubbles, tutorials, the hint book, menus, the stick on the game-select screen, the B-pads carved in Windy) is now the Vita control bound to that button, at the same size, as if the game were made for the Vita. Remap a button and its picture follows.

New menu

  • The port's menu now opens with SELECT twice (it was START + SELECT) and is organised in pages: Picture, Buttons, Sticks and aiming, Game, Cheats.
  • Aim with the camera stick (off by default): while aiming, the right stick aims.
  • Aiming left/right and up/down can each be inverted (up/down inverted, as the original, by default).
  • Skip intro, and cheats: infinite health, infinite lives, max cash.

Fixes and performance

  • Things behind no longer show through close geometry (Windy's ladder over the red beam, missing rails, and similar spots at some camera angles).
  • The game's audio microcode reimplemented natively, bit-exact with the original and much lighter on the CPU.
  • Faster vertex processing in the renderer.
  • Speech bubble text no longer runs past the bubble in any language.
  • Fixed a crash leaving Spooky and a halt in Windy with the 60 fps option on; Windy's beehive smoke no longer crashes.

Updating keeps your saves and settings. On 1.0.0 or 1.1.0 the game offers this update at start-up (needs Enable Unsafe Homebrew).

v1.1.0

@HenryKun55 HenryKun55 released this 14 Oct 18:12

v1.1.0

Translations redone, faithful to the game

  • All five translations (Português, Español, Français, Deutsch, Italiano) rewritten to follow the original: swearing only where the game swears (the censorship option turns it into the game's symbols), with local slang and accents for the farmhands, the cavemen, Birdy, the Professor and the rest.
  • Text that was still in English is translated now: Birdy the scarecrow, the Queen Bee, the Professor and the Panther King, Berri's answerphone, the Great Mighty Poo, the tutorial book pages, menus, the legal screen and the credits.
  • The text language now follows your Vita's system language (it used to start in Portuguese for everyone) until you pick one in the menu.
  • Censorship is off by default.

Optional up to 60 fps

  • New "Frame rate" option in the port menu (START + SELECT): up to 60 fps by drawing a frame between each two of the game's, where there's time for it. Off by default: shadows, footprints and dust still move at 30.

Fixes

  • No more freeze after a stall (e.g. taking a screenshot).
  • Smoother frame pacing.
  • A short "what's new" note on the boot screen, shown once.

Updating keeps your saves and settings. If you're on 1.0.0, the game offers this update at start-up (needs Enable Unsafe Homebrew).
