What's new

Agent reference URLs

Agents can now read from the web during a run. When an agent has permitted URLs configured, each generation activates a read_url tool and the model can call it to fetch content from those prefixes before composing its reply.

  • SSRF-safe fetcher — allowlist check, loopback/link-local/RFC-1918 blocking, no redirect following, 200 KB raw / 50 KB extracted-text caps
  • Provider tool-calling loops for Anthropic, OpenAI, and Gemini (each handles its own wire format); max 5 iterations per generation
  • Per-call access log — every URL fetch is written to url_access_log with an expires_at for retention-based cleanup; retention period configurable via url_access_log_retention_days
  • System prompt now names the read_url tool explicitly so models know to call it

Agent editor UX

  • Save Changes moved from the global header into the Configuration tab — saves the full agent
  • Memory tab gets its own Save Changes button — saves only feedback_memory, so a memory edit never clobbers unsaved configuration changes
  • Cancel button placed next to each save button

Upgrading

Resolve the release tag and bump both dependencies together — see AGENTS.md §0.

# requirements.txt
hop-core @ git+https://github.com/Heretto/hop-core.git@v0.1.4
// package.json
"@heretto/hop-ui": "https://github.com/Heretto/hop-core/releases/download/v0.1.4/heretto-hop-ui-0.1.4.tgz"

After bumping, re-run hop-doctor and rebuild.

UI library

Skips organisation name validation when the login component is in single-org register mode (#16). This is a real change to @heretto/hop-ui — unlike v0.1.2, which was a version relabel on the frontend side — so consuming apps should take the new tarball.

hop-doctor

Warns when a project has no AGENTS.md or CLAUDE.md of its own (#17). hop-core's guidance lives in hop-core, and agent tools read their context from the repository they are working in, so an agent opening a consuming project would otherwise have no idea it is a hop-core app.

Documentation

AGENTS.md gained a Start here section: the whole wiring job in four steps, beginning with how to resolve the current release rather than copying a version out of a document (#15). Step 4 asks the agent to leave notes in the project it just built, with a template (#17).

The migrations guidance is corrected (#14). It previously said an unfiltered autogenerate would propose dropping hop-core's tables, and that a table missing from the include_object filter might be dropped. Measured on a real application, neither is what happens: unfiltered, autogenerate emits thirteen spurious modify_type operations because hop-core's UUID columns reflect out of SQLite as NUMERIC; and an omitted table is excluded from the comparison entirely, so changes to it never reach a migration and the schema drifts silently. The three faults that stop alembic working from the command line at all are documented too.

Release process

Every version source is now checked against the release tag (#13), not just ui/package.json. v0.1.1 shipped reporting 0.1.0 because the other three went unchecked.

Versions

All four sources read 0.1.3. Install:

pip install "hop-core[doctor] @ git+https://github.com/Heretto/hop-core.git@v0.1.3"

The npm-installable tarball is attached below as heretto-hop-ui-0.1.3.tgz. The auto-generated source archives are not npm-installable — use the .tgz.
