DiscordWear v1.7.2
DiscordWear v1.7.2
Hey hey !
This is a small release, with a few QoL improvements :)
New
- Pin DMs to the top: long-press a conversation and choose Pin to top, it stays first even if it's not the most recent. Pinned DMs survive app restarts
- Closer to the official client — the app now sends a
launch_signatureinX-Super-Properties, generated fresh at every launch, just like the official web client. Huge thanks to @SparklingWaterBurns for the research and PR #7 <3
Fixed
- DM list avatars and profile decorations no longer get stuck in a permanent loading state after scrolling
- One shared image cache across the whole app: images load faster and use less memory
Coming next
New app icon, update readme screenshots and new package name, which takes us to the following note
DiscordWear will also get its own package name pretty soon, so that we don't use the same pkg name as upstream. This means that you will have to uninstall your current version (sorry!) and install the new one to get newer versions that will use the new package name. This is just a warning / notice, you don't have to do anything for now
Thank you ! :)
DiscordWear v1.7.1
DiscordWear v1.7.1
Hi! This one is a chat screen overhaul :)
New
- Compose menu: the "+" button in chat now opens a menu with
Emoji / Stickers / Photo / Voice, and the emoji & sticker picker, photo
picker, message options and message editor are proper screens you can
back out of, instead of overlays - Inline send: the send button now lives inside the message input field
- The emoji picker now also offers standard emojis for regular messages
(not just for reactions)
Chat UX
- Your draft, pending text and reply target survive going somewhere else
and coming back - Pinned
#channel-nameheader at the top of server chats while you scroll - The clock stays visible in chat instead of hiding and reappearing often
- Larger mention badges on the server and channel lists, sitting next to the name
- A back button at the end of the channel list
- Back + compose buttons replace the old emoji/sticker/photo/mic row
Bug Fixes
- Long-pressing while scrolling no longer opens the message options (that one was annoying)
- Long-press and avatar taps are ignored while recording a voice message:
navigating away mid-recording could previously leave the mic on with no way to stop it - Sticker and animated-emoji-as-GIF send failures show an error message again
instead of failing silently - Denying the photo permission now tells you so, instead of doing nothing
- Animated (Nitro) emojis unlock correctly right after an app restart
- Message options / edit screens close cleanly if the message gets deleted while open
Extras
- Under the hood, the chat overlays were refactored into dedicated navigation
routes, that's what makes drafts survive and it should make chat features
less fragile going forward! - A few known UI quirks are intentionally left as-is for now, they'll get
their own proper fixes in future versions
Thank you ! :)
Reminder:
DiscordWear will also get its own package name pretty soon, so that we don't use the same pkg name as upstream. This means that you will have to unistall your current version (sorry!) and install the new one to get newer versions that will use the new package name. This is just a warning / notice, you don't have to do anything for now
DiscordWear v1.7.0
DiscordWear v1.7.0
Hey! Big changes coming up :)
New
- Mentions screen: when your home screen fills up with mention cards,
a new "View all (N)" button opens a dedicated screen with every unread
mention in one place. - Tidier home: mention cards are capped at a few, with the rest
waiting on the Mentions screen instead of piling up
UI Improvements
- A settings gear now lives in the home header, one tap to Settings
- DMs and Servers buttons got proper icons
- The message input and edit-message box are nicely rounded
- Settings toggles are uniformly sized, so nothing jumps while scrolling
- The Log Out confirmation uses compact, centered buttons
- Welcome screen buttons share equal width, with labels centered
- QR login got a rounded QR tile and centered status messages
Bug Fixes
- Mention badges and cards now clear as soon as you open a channel
- The app looks for newer versions weekly and will send you a notif if a newer version is waiting for you
Extras
- Channels you can't view are always hidden, the old option to show
them is gone, keeping DiscordWear more in line with Discord's and most server's rules - For developers: there's now a built-in demo mode you can launch with
adb shell am start -n com.zaffox.discordwear/.MainActivity --ez extra_mock true
to explore the app without a real account
Thank you ! :)
Reminder:
DiscordWear will also get its own package name pretty soon, so that we don't use the same pkg name as upstream. This means that you will have to unistall your current version (soory!) and install the new one to get newer versions that will use the new package name. This is just a warning / notice, you don't have to do anything for now.
DiscordWear v1.6.3
DiscordWear v1.6.3
Battery
- The background service now only starts when notification permission is enabled no more silently burning battery if notifications are blocked (tysm @SparklingWaterBurns for PR #3 )
- The service also kicks in automatically once you grant the permission, so no app restart is needed
Fixed
- Voice messages no longer crash the app on Wear OS 3.0 watches (API 30)
- The DM list loading state (loader & text) is now centered, like the server list
- The app is now properly declared as a standalone Wear OS app
Docs
- Added a CONTRIBUTING.md
- README now mentions the battery tradeoff of allowing notifications
Notices
Thank you for your interset in DiscordWear and/or for using it :)
Coming soon: new app icon / logo ; small UI changes ; less frames drop
Also, some will not like that, but I'll remove the button to view locked/non-public channels in the next release. This feature is unfair and unethical in my view, and goes far too much against Discord's ToS.... Basically the main reason they don't like third-party clients. Sorry.
DiscordWear v1.6.2
DiscordWear 1.6.2 (first stable version since the 1.6.0 upgrade !)
Biggest login + fresh-install update yet. Please report back if anything goes wrong !
QR login survives Discord's human check
- Getting
captcha-requiredno longer dumps raw JSON on the watch: you get a friendly "Check needed" screen instead. - New Solve on phone: open
http://<watch-ip>:8081on the same Wi-Fi, solve the hCaptcha there, the watch retries automatically once you passed it. - New New QR code retry button and short, readable errors.
Spoof !
- Better official-client fingerprint: real Chrome/build versions and fuller
request headers instead of the dummy9999build number
Fresh installs actually show your servers
- Mention cards no longer all read "Server / Tap to open" after first login: the app now uses the gateway
READYpayload to learn guild + channel names immediately (also makes opening servers snappier)
Chat reads better on round screens
- Your own messages now show your avatar like everyone else's
- Messages sit in a centered block clear of the edges, text left-aligned at
the name column; no more clipping into the screen border !
Thank you @Smatjoy for helping me get it right :)
Servers open faster, loader is smoother
- Channel load went from 3 sequential requests to parallel, and all parsing
moved off the UI thread: no more frozen spinner
Reminder !
This is an unofficial client using Discord's private API: ban risk applies and even if low, use at your own risk
Thanks a lot for your interest DiscordWear.
Discord Wear V1.6.1 (beta!)
Pre-release 1.6.1
QR login survives Discord's human check
- Getting
captcha-requiredno longer dumps raw JSON on the watch. You now
get a friendly Check needed screen. - New Solve on phone: open
http://<watch-ip>:8081on the same Wi-Fi,
solve the hCaptcha there, and the watch retries automatically (no re-scan).
(Please note: Discord ties the check todiscord.com, so it can still
be rejected. Type Token / Enter via Browser remains the reliable path!) - New New QR code retry button and truncated, readable error messages
Less likely to be challenged in the first place
- Better official-client fingerprint: real Chrome/build versions and fuller
request headers instead of the dummy9999build number - Huge thanks to @SparklingWaterBurns for PR #1 that contributed this
and for kicking off the spoofing work :)
This is a pre release because i didnt get to test it on an actual watch yet. If everything goes well, v1.6.2 will hit soon as stable
-> update: it works ! It didn't even ask to do the captcha ! I've been able to log in. Let me make some small stability improvements and bug fixes and we are good to go
Thanks !
DiscordWear v1.6.0 (beta!)
This is a pre-release ! Not offered via the in-app updater yet. This update offers many upgrades but could be unstable:
- Notifications! New DMs and mentions now alert you on the watch, even with the app closed
- Login looks like the official web client now (API v9 + proper headers, see upstream issue Zaffox#9), this highly reduces ban risk
- The web portal now has a help section in case you don't know how to find you account token
Changes from previous versions (as a reminder):
- uncategorized channels are now visible
- "hide locked channels" toggle
- back button in chats
- QR login screen staying awake
- mention labels don't show raw IDs anymore
DiscordWear v1.5.2
hi,
i've made the log in better with the following changes:
- If you log in using the QR, your watch will not go to sleep until you have scanned it.
- There's now a little notice under the QR that says the the QR expires, so be take you time but don't take your time too much
i've also made the following UI / UX changes:
- You will find a back arrow next to #channel-name in any chat
- Clean mention labels on Home (no more raw IDs)
Please note that I will no longer write the app version along its name on the apk file name
Thank you :)
DiscordWear v1.5.1
First release !
I've checked the issues and PR from upstream, and i'm working on implementing what can be implemented via this fork.
This first release is basically just upstream + in-app updater fix + uncategorized-channels are now visible in the app
thanks :)
