BuildScape 1.18.2 - 4.1.0
Forge 1.18.2. This release covers every change since 4.0.3 (4.0.4, 4.0.5 and 4.1.0).
Buildscape - 4.0.5 --> 4.1.0
Full Changelog: https://github.com/HoYin1600p/Buildscape/commits/v1.18.2-4.1.0
Highlights
- Brand-new unified in-game config screen. All settings now live in one screen with a navigation bar (World, Items, Pillars, Particles, Links and System pages), light and dark themes, background style presets, smooth open and close animations, a side panel for pillar details and colors, and quick links to the project pages. Large item lists render faster, and the screen fits and clips correctly on small GUI scales by @KyroXova & @HoYin1600p
- Sculk now behaves like vanilla 1.19. Sculk Catalysts listen for nearby deaths, use the dead mob's experience, bloom and spread gradually, with the vanilla bloom, spread and charge sounds (and matching subtitles). Sculk Veins spread over plants and snow, sculk blocks break like vanilla, and breaking a Sculk Pillar gives experience by @HoYin1600p
- Pillar and Item Frame data is much more reliable. Pillar stacks keep their ID and data when blocks are broken, joined or reloaded, removing many pillar IDs no longer stalls the server, item frame entries are bounded and cleaned up, and edits are applied per row instead of replacing the whole registry by @HoYin1600p
- Config editing is safer on servers. The server and the screen now agree on who may change what, refused edits show a red X pulse and a tooltip on the open screen, and your unsent edits survive server updates. Uploads are chunked and validated, broken presets can be deleted, and the last preset you used is remembered by @HoYin1600p & @KyroXova
- Config files are sturdier. Old configs (including the legacy
buildscape.cfg) migrate once into the new grouped, commented files with a backup, files are read and written as UTF-8, damaged files are backed up instead of lost, and missing keys are appended. Players upgrading from 4.0.5 keep their unlocked BuildScape recipes and receive the new default pillar items by @HoYin1600p - Tinted glass stops beacon beams again while keeping the beacon active, and also works with Quark's beacon redirection by @HoYin1600p
- Biome Brush rework: it only changes the biome color tint, respects claims and permissions, is free in Creative, and sneak + left-click clears only the captured biome. A game rule chooses whether clearing resets the biome only (default) or the biome and both corners by @HoYin1600p
- Copper oxidation now works like vanilla for every BuildScape copper block, and a Copper block can be cut into a single bit of an exposed, weathered or oxidized grate by @HoYin1600p
Fixes
- Fixed a possible infinite loop with Copper Grates
- Fixed Haze: it now stops at solid and transparent blocks, with fewer block lookups for better performance
- Fixed Creaking Heart resin: collecting it is an empty-hand action and gives resin on every click
- Fixed Glass Jars holding XP or lava not giving light level 15, nested Glass Jars rendering, and Glass Jar drinking
- Fixed Bottle of Mist so it ages bit copper blocks and is not used up when nothing changes
- Fixed Glazed Glass so it needs Silk Touch to drop, like vanilla glass, and fixed glass shape drops
- Fixed Pots only breaking from pickaxes
- Fixed Glow Lights dropping one item per face
- Fixed hollow pipe and hollow log issues, pipe outlets now match placement, and blocked pipe ends stop ticking
- Fixed Icicle and Sulfur Spike columns breaking with a stack overflow on very long columns, and icicle updates and bases
- Fixed floating plants not breaking, slab and sculk loot, placement offsets, and Mud drying (also when dripstone is placed last)
- Fixed Mangrove decorators
- Fixed farmland hydration, hammer ore XP, geyser ceilings, Frost Rose drops (now cheaper to craft), and fabric dust
- Fixed the Geyser lift so it is driven by erupting geysers
- Fixed Sculk Catalysts not charging from player kills in modpacks that handle XP drops themselves
- Fixed Sculk Catalyst and Sculk Book lighting: ambient occlusion and ground shadowing are off
- Fixed Firefly Bushes not showing fireflies at night after joining in the day
- Fixed Mob Pillars so they show glow and fire, and removed item frames stay removed
- Fixed destroyed frames wiping the data of a new frame placed in the same spot
- Fixed the Leaf Litter item icon being tinted twice
- Fixed Tinted Spore particles and the Firelight Trophy using textures that only exist in 1.19
- Fixed Experience fluid checks throwing errors when the fluid is missing from the registry
- Fixed Smoke Vents so they smoke like campfires
- Fixed advancement screen scrolling
- Fixed frozen mobs staying small, tool and inventory fixes, and keeping progress on death
- Fixed a crash when an invalid item ID was in the Items tab
- Fixed login failing on invalid advancement criteria or overlong config strings
- Fixed hammer cancellation to be safe for containers
- Fixed the hammer, workbench menu and glow light colors in unusual situations (no player, missing data, oversized values)
- Fixed Pillar items from before 4.0.5 so they receive the new default items
- Fixed config screen issues: missing icons, permission mismatch between client and server, Apply storing the wrong color count, editor drafts being lost, and the Tags view not refreshing after a world change
- Fixed recipe lookup order so it is the same on every launch, and recipe reloads
- Fixed Biome Brush checking only part of a column, and potion and cake stacks now follow the game rules
- Fixed hedge models, the legacy stocking renderer, particle tab pose, tooltips and client caches (cleared on logout)
- Fixed the pillar side panel buttons and color picker clipping
Changes
- Added a recipe for the Poplar Boat
- Cushions now break falls
- The Builder's Pouch Shift preview now matches the pouch's blue
- Recipes: datapack recipes with the same ID now win over the built-in ones, recipes can be disabled, and invalid ingredients or stonecutter loops are rejected
- Pillar item defaults come from the new default item lists; items you removed by hand stay removed
- Leaf, grass, moss and wool blocks mine faster again with the right tool
- Removed the cinematic zoom effect
- The mod name is now spelled BuildScape everywhere, and the mod page lists the whole team as authors
Textures/Visuals
- New interface textures for the config screen: navigation, theme, toggle and link icons
- Faster rendering for the config screen, particles and several block renderers
- Removed an unused item model
Internal
- A one-time recipe ID migration keeps recipes from 4.0.5 working
- Large code reorganization into feature packages, formatting and code-style enforcement, and shared helper classes
- Many new automated tests (config, packets, mixins, pillars, sculk, recipes, rendering)
- Added a LICENSE file (All Rights Reserved), cleaned the README and repository, and added development client launch tooling
Buildscape - 4.0.4 --> 4.0.5
Fixes
- Fixed a vanilla-breaking suffocation bug where players entering 1-block spaces (such as using trapdoors, slabs, or elytra flying into 1-block gaps) were forced to stand up and suffocated inside blocks. Hollow log crawl handling now strictly tracks Buildscape crawling sessions and verifies overhead clearance before resetting poses by @KyroXova
Buildscape - 4.0.3 --> 4.0.4
Highlights
- Fixed an intermittent dedicated-server freeze during startup. Occasionally the server would hang during the initial datapack reload and never finish loading. This was a race condition in vanilla 1.18.2's reload system; Buildscape now makes that part thread-safe, so servers (including large modpack servers) start reliably. Single-player is unaffected apart from the same safety improvement by @HoYin1600p
- Added Haze Bushes in all 16 dye colors, plus potted versions. Start from a White Haze Bush and combine it with a dye to change its color. Haze Bushes release haze particles, and Bottles of Mist are now collected by right-clicking a haze bush with an empty glass bottle (instead of right-clicking in the open air). Once drained, a bush stops giving haze until it recovers by @ItzDGA
- Added Ice Crystals, a new decorative block crafted from an Icicle and Amethyst Shards, and reworked Icicles with new models, textures and placement behavior by @ItzDGA
- Copper Rods now act like Lightning Rods: they attract lightning strikes, and a strike cleans the oxidation off nearby copper by @ItzDGA
Fixes
- Dyeing a drained Haze Bush now keeps it drained instead of producing a full bush
- Fixed a crash that could happen when Eyeblossoms switched between their day and night states
- Fixed Copper Rod lightning handling: the redstone pulse is kept, doors and chests are cleaned safely, rods that already exist in the world are recognized correctly, freshly placed copper counts as copper, and Copper Rods can now be mined with a stone pickaxe
- Fixed several Icicle problems: waterlogging, placement and breaking checks in Adventure mode and while sneaking, the falling icicle shell, repair of icicles that lost their attachment, and growth near the bottom of the world
- Fixed the icicle outer shell being drawn underneath dripstone and slabs; it is now only drawn under a full block face
- Fixed Haze Bush issues: the particle effect no longer scans far outside what you can see (better performance), Haze Bushes stack properly when picked up from a pot, they drop the right items, they can be replaced less accidentally (they are no longer treated as replaceable plants), bone meal now plays its sound, and you can sneak to place into a pot
- Fixed the Pillar mob states being left out of clean builds and releases
- Fixed duplicate Haze Bush dye recipes and a duplicate Ice Crystal recipe
- Fixed duplicate Icicle entries in the language file
- Fixed incorrect ingredients in the Packed Mud Pillar and Sculk Pillar recipes, which pointed at the vanilla blocks instead of the Buildscape ones
- Fixed Embeddium failing to download on fresh builds because of a wrong CurseMaven address
Changes
- Bottles of Mist are obtained from Haze Bushes (see Highlights). Their tooltip now says to right-click a haze bush with an empty glass bottle
- Icicles and Ice Crystals appear in the Buildscape creative tab; the creative tab order was rearranged
- Wandering Homemakers and Hollow Logs received small adjustments related to Haze Bushes
- Recipes are now loaded more strictly: invalid recipes are dropped when the recipe cache loads instead of causing problems
Textures/Visuals
- Refreshed the Steel Door textures (door, item and Flaming Steel Door) by @ItzDGA
- Updated the hollow metal pipe corner model by @ItzDGA
- New textures for Icicles and Ice Crystals, with a more consistent icicle look
- New textures and a haze particle effect for the Haze Bushes
Internal
- Removed unused upward icicle textures and models
- The recipe cache is now rebuilt automatically whenever recipe files are added or removed, and the bundled cache is verified byte for byte against the recipes at build time, so what ships always matches the recipes by @KyroXova & @HoYin1600p
- Recipe pack files are formatted consistently and normalised to the same line endings, which keeps the bundled cache stable across machines
- Added automated tests covering the recipe cache, Copper Rod logic and Haze Bush resources
