v2.4.3
CBM 2.4.3 fixes restic backups to SSH/SFTP destinations whose private key was pasted with Windows line ends, and quiets the agent's poll errors.
Upgrade notes
- Update the agents (the SFTP fix and the poll changes are on their side) and the controller. No migration, nothing to re-enter: keys already saved are fixed as they're read.
Fixes
- SSH key pasted with CRLF line ends. A key pasted in the destination form was stored with
\r\nline ends (a textarea posts them that way). The controller's own test went through, but the agent's OpenSSH refused the key (Load key …: error in libcrypto: unsupported, thenPermission denied (publickey)), so every restic backup to that destination failed. Keys are now normalised everywhere - when saved, when read, and by the agent before use - so existing destinations work again without re-entering the key. - Test now checks the key like the agent will. It flags a key OpenSSH can't use (a PuTTY
.ppk, a key with a passphrase, a public key pasted by mistake), so a green Test no longer hides red backups. - Poll errors. A failed poll is retried at once; the agent warns only after several failures in a row, names the real cause (e.g.
EAI_AGAINfor a DNS hiccup) instead offetch failed, and says when the controller is reachable again. It also caches the controller's address for a minute, and keeps using the last known one while the DNS resolver fails.
Also
- The installer takes an optional
AGENT_DNS="1.1.1.1 9.9.9.9"to give the agent its own DNS servers on a host with an unreliable resolver.
