Beta. Expect bugs. Windows 10/11 x64 (Linux and Steam Deck: build it yourself, see below). Thanks to everyone who tried v0.1.2 and reported back.

What's new

  • Season mode past 10 seasons (experimental). The Wii game ends Season mode after 2017. In the launcher, SETTINGS > ENHANCEMENTS > SEASONS can now be 20 (to 2027) or No limit (never ends; the game keeps the 20 most recent years). It stays at 10 (original) unless you change it. Tested by simulating a whole season in 2029 with real games, through the postseason and World Series, into 2030: standings, finances, the draft, awards, the calendar and its real year, and save and load. Past the original 10 years several of the game's tables had to be extended (finances, team records, the luxury tax, the calendar's year), so please tell us if anything looks wrong.
  • New ENHANCEMENTS tab in the launcher, for everything the Wii game does not have. Each option starts as on the Wii; the ones still being tried are tagged EXPERIMENTAL.
  • Saves on a new install fixed. With a fresh install and no mods, saving said "Save failed" (the game expects its save folder to exist already, as on a console). Found by the Linux port; thanks @CalenCyr.
  • Roster editor (PowerUp+): 2008's extra skin tone. The tone 2008 added is offered as 2.5 (2008), between 2 and 3, and exports to the game. Re-import the 2008 roster to give it back to the 27 players who have it. Asked for on Reddit.
  • Linux and Steam Deck (experimental, community contribution by @CalenCyr): a native build made on your own PC from your copy of the game with tools/linux/build.sh, including a portable build for the Steam Deck. 60 FPS on a Fedora PC and on a Deck in the test match. See docs/en/linux.md. The Linux and SteamDeck kits attached here are this repository plus a one-command installer (install.sh / install-steam-deck.sh); as on Windows, they hold nothing from the game: it is built from your disc on your machine.

Install / update

  1. Download MLB-Power-Pros-2008-Setup-v0.1.3.zip and unzip it into a folder of yours (not Program Files).
  2. Open MLBPowerPros2008-Setup.exe, press CHOOSE DISC and pick your copy (ISO, NKit, RVZ, WBFS, WIA, GCZ or CISO).
  3. Press INSTALL (about 4–5 minutes on a 12-thread CPU), then PLAY.

Coming from an older version? After installing, copy UserData\NAND and UserData\ModSaves (your saves) and the mods folder from the old MLB Power Pros 2008\Game folder into the new one, then delete the old install.

The Blender stadium add-on is unchanged (powerpros_stadium-0.8.2.zip, attached again).

Known issues

  • Tested mainly on one PC (Ryzen 5 5500 + Radeon RX 5500).
  • Season mode past 10 seasons: the farewell after season 20 still says "10 years" (fixed game text), "Annual Results" has no year title after 2017 (the game only has those pictures), and archived years (past the latest 20) are kept in the save but there is no screen to view them yet.
  • New stadiums appear only in Exhibition.
  • The game can occasionally hang at startup: close it and open it again.

If something goes wrong, please open an issue with your CPU, GPU and UserData\Logs\<latest>\console.log; for Season mode, your save helps a lot.

Beta. Puede tener errores. Windows 10/11 de 64 bits (Linux y Steam Deck: compílalo tú, ver abajo).

Novedades:

Ver docs/linux.md.

Instalar o actualizar: descarga MLB-Power-Pros-2008-Setup-v0.1.3.zip, descomprímelo, abre MLBPowerPros2008-Setup.exe, elige tu disco y pulsa INSTALAR.
