TECHO5 Dot v1.0.11
A phone over Bluetooth, Bluetooth tones, and a fix for Home Assistant reconnecting over and over.
- A phone over Bluetooth (HuskerMinion/techo5#131, #10). The new Bluetooth phone switch in Home Assistant lets a phone play to the Dot like any Bluetooth speaker: for two minutes the Dot can be found and paired from the phone's Bluetooth settings, and the ring pulses blue meanwhile. Bluetooth reconnect phone calls a remembered phone back, and Bluetooth forget phones forgets them. A phone may not get in while the Dot is connected to a Bluetooth speaker. Thanks, @tibole.
- One volume with a phone. The phone's volume slider is the Dot's volume, both ways. Night volume still caps a raise from the phone. With two phones, the first takes the speaker back when the second stops. The Dot now says it is a loudspeaker.
- Bluetooth tones and Forget. A short rising tone says earbuds, a speaker or a phone connected, and a falling one that it went (not in quiet hours or during a call). A new Bluetooth forget button in Home Assistant forgets the earbuds or speaker, so new ones can be paired.
- AirPlay pause, play and skip (HuskerMinion/techo5#124). Pause, play, next and previous on the Dot or from Home Assistant now reach the iPhone, and the track stays paused instead of ending. Thanks, @maxvaega.
- Home Assistant reconnecting over and over (HuskerMinion/techo5#136). With a very large number of media players in Home Assistant (thousands), the Now Playing follows list was too big for one message and Home Assistant kept dropping the connection once a token was set. The lists are now capped, and the log no longer floods with closed connections. Thanks, @thedrjones.
- The diagnostics leave out the names of paired Bluetooth devices.

TECHO5 Dot v1.0.9
Fewer false wakes, for the Echo Dot.
- A wake by mistake ends quietly. When the Dot wakes and nobody says anything, it now goes back to sleep without the error chime and the red ring. When all it hears after the wake word is what speech-to-text writes for noise ("Thank you.", "You"), it doesn't answer. Only the wake word's own turns end this way: an answer to a question Home Assistant asked, or to a follow-up, is always heard, so "Yeah." still works there. Thanks to @RogerSero for the report (HuskerMinion/techo5#127).
- Wake word threshold, called Wake word sensitivity before. It always worked as a threshold, so a lower number wakes more easily, not less. If the Dot wakes by mistake, raise it a step at a time (0.90, 0.93, 0.95). The Stop word's setting is renamed the same way. Your settings and automations keep working: only the names changed.
- Last wake score, a new diagnostic sensor in Home Assistant: how high the last wake scored. A wake by mistake that scored 0.91 is gone at 0.93.

Notifications from Home Assistant, now-playing sensors, and the Spotify slider and the Dot's volume moving together, for the Echo Dot.
- Notifications from Home Assistant. The Dot chimes for a
notifyand can say the message aloud, so one automation can notify every device, Dots included. Thanks, wonderslug (#115). - What the Dot plays, as sensors in Home Assistant: Now playing source, title, artist, album and state. Thanks, maxvaega (#123).
- The Spotify app's slider and the Dot's volume move together, both ways, and during quiet hours neither Spotify's nor Music Assistant's slider can turn the Dot up past the night volume. Not yet tested with a real Spotify account, so please tell us on HuskerMinion/techo5#125 how it works.
- "Play the sounds of rain" has a ready-made automation in the TECHO5 docs (#120).

TECHO5 Dot v1.0.6
Wi-Fi that comes back without Home Assistant, and a doorbell chime for Reolink doorbells, for the Echo Dot.
- A Dot without Home Assistant gets its Wi-Fi back after a missed key change. The Wi-Fi watcher only stepped in when Home Assistant lost the device, so a Dot with its own voice backend and no Home Assistant could stay connected but deaf until it was unplugged. It now goes by the network's own traffic on those devices, and backs off on a flaky network instead of reconnecting over and over. Thanks, musselmanjoey (#85).
- The Dot can be a Reolink doorbell's chime. With the doorbell on a Reolink Home Hub or NVR and ONVIF turned on there, choose its camera under Doorbell on the setup page. A press of the button rings a classic three-tone door chime, with no Home Assistant needed, and stays silent during a call. Each press also sends an
esphome.techo5_doorbellevent to Home Assistant. See docs/setup.md, "A doorbell".

TECHO5 Dot v1.0.5
Music Assistant groups in step, and wake words in the diagnostics, for the Echo Dot.
- Music Assistant and Sendspin groups stay in step. The device now places audio by its sound card's real output delay rather than a fixed margin, so it no longer plays ahead of the other speakers in a group. It also tells Music Assistant it is ready only once its clock has settled, a second or two after it connects. Thanks to @hodapp.
- Download diagnostics carries your wake words. Turn on the device's Setup page switch in Home Assistant, open the page, and General → Download diagnostics now has the last 100 wake word detections and near misses from the log, with their scores. It is the file to attach to an issue.
- An alarm or chime over music comes out at its own volume step. Set a few steps above the music near the top of the dial, it could come out at the music's level.

TECHO5 Dot v1.0.4
A fix for the connection to Home Assistant, for the Echo Dot.

TECHO5 Dot v1.0.3
An old-phone ring for calls, and updates that get through on a slow connection, for the Echo Dot.
- Calls can ring like an old desk phone. The new "Call ring" select in Home Assistant picks Old phone or Chime. Old phone is the new default; pick Chime for the ring there was before.
- An update on a slow or patchy connection keeps going instead of failing after 10 minutes. It picks up where it left off, and the whole file is still checked before anything is installed.
- If an update download crawls while the Wi-Fi looks fine, the Dot reconnects its Wi-Fi once (at most every 6 hours). A Wi-Fi link that went slow after a few days running was why some Dot updates kept failing.
- This helps from the next update on. If this update keeps failing on a Dot that has been running a long time, unplug it for a few seconds, then press Install. The Restart button in Home Assistant isn't enough, because it doesn't reset the Wi-Fi.
New in Home Assistant: the Call ring select. Nothing is renamed or removed.

TECHO5 Dot v1.0.2
Fixes for the Echo Dot.
- Music Assistant always hears the Dot's volume and mute. Unmuting used to leave it showing muted.
- Voice: canceling a reply no longer leaves the wake word stuck in its fallback mode, an announcement during a turn no longer leaves the turn hanging, and a reply cut off by another sound ends the turn.
- DLNA: a video sent to the Dot is refused at once, with an error the app can show.
- Weather words at night say "Clear" instead of "Sunny".

TECHO5 Dot v1.0.10
Help from Home Assistant with the wake word, for the Echo Dot.
- Wake word on Home Assistant (off by default). The Dot sends its microphone audio to Home Assistant's own wake word engine (openWakeWord, for example) while it's idle, so you can use any wake word Home Assistant can run. The Dot's own wake words keep working alongside. Everything said in the room goes to Home Assistant while this is on, about 32 KB a second.
- Confirm wake with Home Assistant (off by default), with a Confirm threshold. A first wake word the Dot isn't sure of (between the Confirm threshold and the Wake word threshold) is checked by Home Assistant's engine first, using about 2 to 3.5 seconds of audio. If it doesn't hear the word, nothing happens. It helps with wake words said with an accent the model didn't learn, and with sounds close to the word. A confirmed wake chimes about half a second later. Thanks to @anthony0585 for the idea (HuskerMinion/techo5#129).
- Both need a wake word engine in Home Assistant, picked in the voice assistant the Dot uses. See Wake word on Home Assistant.
- New docs: training a wake word of your own, in any language, and a contributing guide (HuskerMinion/techo5#128).
