v0.3.56
Fixed
- TMDB matching threw away exact ID matches that lacked a poster image, falling through to a fuzzy title-search that on common titles ("Vanity Fair", "Titanic", "The Watch", "The Village") cheerfully returned the wrong year or wrong medium. Two cooperating bugs:
- Resolver bug.
_resolve_tmdband_resolve_tmdb_tvdb(and the three passes in_resolve_tmdb_search) all conditioned the match onif poster_path:— meaning if TMDB had the show registered with no poster (very common for brand-new shows like The Cage (2026) and obscure regional series), the function returned(None, "placeholder", {})and the caller treated it as "no match". Now: the match is returned withsource="tmdb"and full meta (title, year, genres, rating, media_type) regardless of whether a poster image exists; only the poster URL is conditional. - Caller bug. The fallback chain gated on
if not poster_url. So even after fixing the resolvers, an authoritative ID match without a poster would still fall through to the title-search fuzzy fallback. Gate now readsif source == "placeholder"— once any resolver returns a TMDB-grade match, the chain stops.
- Resolver bug.
- Title-search fallback no longer runs when an explicit
[tvdb-N]or[tt…]ID is present in the folder name and TMDB has no record for it. If you've gone to the trouble of telling Shrinkerr exactly which show this is, and TMDB legitimately doesn't have it, falling back to a multi-search fuzzy guess can only hurt — best case it's a no-op, worst case it matches a same-titled different show. The folder name's parsed title/year/media-type are kept for display; manual override via Settings still works for any case where you want to point it at a specific TMDB entry. media_typebackfill for TVDB-ID folders now defaults to"tv"when TMDB-find returns nothing. TVDB IDs are TV-show specific in the wild, and leavingmedia_typeunset disabled all the TV-specific UI affordances.
This addresses cases like Wild Life (2020) [tvdb-387220], XIII (2011) [tvdb-193501], Wasted (2016) [tvdb-314650], Vanity Fair (2018) [tvdb-349513], Too Close (2021) [tvdb-377263], To The Ends Of The Earth (2005) [tvdb-251014], Titanic (2012) [tvdb-254112], The Woman in White (2018) [tvdb-336199], The Watch (2021) [tvdb-369568], The Village (2013) [tvdb-267149] / (2019) [tvdb-354024], The Unusual Suspects (2021) [tvdb-394822], and The Cage (2026) [tvdb-461846].
Existing wrongly-cached matches won't auto-correct (the resolver only runs for uncached paths). Use the manual-override flow or trigger a poster prefetch after evicting the suspect rows if you want to refresh in bulk.
