Per-session control of context cost

  • AGENT CONTEXT panel in the addin. Untick the tool groups the agent does not need for this session. All 41 tools cost about 8,571 tokens of schema on every request; core only is 8 tools at about 1,196. Default is everything on. (#28)
  • "Send plots to the agent automatically." Off means the agent is told a plot was drawn and calls execute_r_with_plot when it wants the image, saving roughly 4,500 tokens each. Your Plots pane is unaffected. (#29)

Fixes

  • A ggplot assigned but never displayed (p <- ggplot(...)) was still sent to the agent, because the object's class was checked without checking whether it was shown. Capture now follows what was actually displayed.
  • Console logging records printed output, not just returned values: cat(), progress output, and print() called inside a function. (#27)
  • Agent output is written to the session log alongside the code it ran.
  • Windows: the session liveness check used tools::pskill(pid, signal = 0), which on Windows always calls TerminateProcess. Starting a server could terminate another RStudio session. It no longer signals on Windows.
  • Two live sessions registering under the same name now warn instead of silently overwriting each other's discovery file.
  • Editor tools save to disk by default and report it; new suggest_edit proposes an edit for you to approve. (#25, #26)
