Changelog

Added

  • Added controller-first custom overlays for Video Settings, Credits, the
reserved 2 Player entry, and Corner/Free Kick/Throw-in taker selection.
  • Added full Joy-Con routes for native Game Plan, Pause and camera settings,
half-time and full-time results, first-use tutorials, penalty aiming and
goalkeeper dives, replays, goal celebrations, and fixed set-play actions.
  • Added native semantic detection for replay, goal-demo, tutorial, penalty,
goal-kick, corner, free-kick, and throw-in states so controller actions no
longer depend on transient screen coordinates alone.

Changed

  • Reduced the main menu to Exhibition, Credits, 2 Player, and Settings, with
page swiping disabled and unsupported graphics High mode removed.
  • Standardized set-piece taker selection on ZR. Free Kick now uses X for
Switch View and preserves Y for Shoot.
  • Simplified the set-piece player picker into a vertical, paginated modal with
player name, preferred foot, and current-player indication.
  • Restored the native Game Plan frontend with a virtual cursor for both
pre-match and Pause entry, while keeping the result pages free of unused
    statistic tiles.

Fixed

  • Synchronized all seven COM difficulty levels, including Legend, into the
authoritative match data instead of falling back to Beginner behavior.
  • Fixed controller-state leakage across gameplay, replay, goal, set-play,
Pause, Game Plan, and result transitions, including opponent and own goals.
  • Fixed the second/final match-result page so A activates its native Next
    footer after the quick-stat preview.
  • Removed the hot-path polling regression introduced by the expanded mapping,
restoring the previously smooth release frame pacing.
  • Hardened synthetic-touch ownership during menu, replay, and match state
changes to prevent stuck pointers and transition crashes.

Verified

  • The complete match flow is controller-operable from the title screen through
Exhibition, gameplay, set pieces, penalties, and return from final results.
  • The release configuration builds with diagnostics and performance tracing
disabled, and the wrapper version is reported as 0.1.98.

Known issues

  • Native Switch performance and long-session stability still require broader
hardware validation; emulator behavior is not a substitute for that test.
  • Compatibility remains limited to PES 2021 Mobile v5.3.0 Nyan Mod Offline.

Notes

  • Supported target: PES 2021 Mobile v5.3.0 Nyan Mod Offline
    (versionCode 305030001, package jp.nyan2021.pesam).
  • Follow the How to install section in the repository README.
  • Release files contain only the compatibility wrapper and project-authored
preparation tools. Users must supply a legally obtained compatible APK and
both OBB files; proprietary game content is not included.

PES 2021 NX v0.1.97

@github-actions github-actions released this 17 Aug 12:27

Changelog

Added

  • Expanded Exhibition to 95 selectable master-data teams: 38 clubs and 57
national teams, each with validated squad membership and shirt numbers.
  • Added a libnx AudioOut-backed AAudio compatibility layer for menu and match
audio, plus mounting and attachment of compatible English commentary data.
  • Added a compact four-tile main menu for Exhibition, Credits, Training, and
Version Info. The Credits popup includes the port attribution and support
link, while Version Info reports the wrapper and game versions.
  • Added the stock General Match Settings screen for time of day, match length,
    overtime, and penalty kicks.

Changed

  • Simplified startup to go from the title screen directly to the main tiles,
bypassing the obsolete profile and onboarding detour.
  • Changed Exhibition so Proceed opens the visible Game Plan and Play starts
the match; the former Game Plan footer action is now optional Settings.
  • Kept both team slots empty until selected and disabled Proceed until valid
HOME and COM teams are ready.
  • Hid the four unsupported header icons and removed unsupported myClub pages
and tab-swiping paths from the compact menu.

Fixed

  • Restored differentiated player overall ratings from master data instead of
showing every squad member as 70.
  • Prevented COM-level selection from opening the team picker and preserved
left-analog virtual-touch movement after the performance adjustments.
  • Fixed missing audio, commentary attachment, and the earlier audio-startup
crash while retaining menu, effects, music, and commentary playback.
  • Preserved the Strategy update return value so Proceed no longer treats Game
Plan as completed and falls back to the Konami splash screen.
  • Prevented the Matchmaking page title from bleeding through General Match
Settings by hiding the complete parent visual root until Back is selected.

Verified

  • Menu audio, match audio, and English commentary are audible in the patched
    Ryujinx test environment.
  • The tested flow reaches Matchmaking, opens and closes Settings cleanly,
enters Game Plan through Proceed, and starts a playable match through Play
without returning to the splash screen.
  • The 95-team selector, player ratings, COM level, controller movement, and
HOME/COM match setup are functional in the tested runtime.
  • The v0.1.97 release NRO builds successfully, the public-tree audit passes,
and the GitHub release notes generate from this changelog section.

Known issues

  • Native Switch performance has not yet received broad hardware validation;
Ryujinx performance and slow-motion can differ from real hardware.

PES 2021 NX v0.1.96

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 14 Aug 13:01

Changelog

Fixed

  • Changed the runtime preparer to extract the PES/eFootball application icon
from the user's validated APK and embed a converted 256x256 JPEG into the
installed NRO, replacing the missing or stale launcher icon.
  • Rebuilt the NRO ASET metadata while preserving the original executable,
NACP, and optional RomFS sections, and included icon provenance and hashes in
    install-report.json.

Verified

  • The Python preparer and standalone PyInstaller executable both completed a
full preparation from the supported APK and two OBBs. The resulting runtime
passed all file validation with a valid JPEG icon in its NRO asset section.

Notes

  • The public release NRO intentionally contains no proprietary artwork. Run
the supplied preparer to generate the personalized NRO before copying it to
    the SD card.

PES 2021 NX v0.1.95

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Aug 17:42

Changelog

Added

  • Replaced the eFootball entry with a focused Exhibition matchup hub built
from the title's existing Matchmaking UI.
  • Added independent HOME and COM club pickers, touchable team cards, COM-level
selection, an optional Game Plan editor, and a direct Proceed action.
  • Added complete verified master-data roster mappings for FC Barcelona and
Madrid Chamartin B. Selecting the same club on both sides automatically
moves the other side to the remaining valid opponent.

Fixed

  • Kept selected HOME and COM identities synchronized across badges, names,
Strategy data, match setup, and the final playable squads.
  • Preserved edited Game Plan data when returning to Matchmaking and removed
    the previous repeated Matchmaking/Strategy flow.
  • Changed direct Proceed to save and fade the stock Strategy child during its
creation tick, avoiding a visible Strategy-screen flash before the pitch.
  • Re-ran the game's native uniform collision selector after replacing both
teams so the final home/away kits follow the selected clubs instead of stale
    Madrid uniform IDs.

Verified

  • The HOME/COM selectors can be changed independently and the resulting clubs
reach a playable CPU match with valid players.
  • Direct Proceed and the optional Game Plan route both complete the Exhibition
setup without returning to the main tile menu.

Known issues

  • The public Exhibition selector is intentionally limited to FC Barcelona and
Madrid Chamartin B until more master rosters are mapped and validated.
  • Active gameplay performance and pacing in Ryujinx remain dependent on host
load; native Nintendo Switch performance still needs hardware validation.

PES 2021 NX v0.1.94

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Aug 14:57

PES 2021 NX v0.1.94

Compatibility target

The currently supported and tested target is PES 2021 Mobile v5.3.0
(versionCode 305030001, package jp.nyan2021.pesam), specifically the
Nyan Mod Offline edition. Other game revisions or packages are not expected
to work without source changes.

The Nyan Mod files are not included, maintained, or distributed by this
repository. Credit goes to Nyan Mod for creating the offline modification
used as the compatibility target during development.

Changelog

Fixed

  • Replaced the title's unintended 5 FPS gameplay tick-rate request with a
narrowly validated 30 FPS floor while preserving normal unlimited and
    already-valid frame-rate requests.
  • Moved render-state tracking to native thread-local storage and enabled the
release GLES state cache, reducing redundant wrapper calls and improving
gameplay pacing, replay stability, and player-name flicker in Ryujinx.
  • Made the Classic-control gamepad mapping possession-aware without changing
the confirmed attacking controls. Defense now maps B to Press, A to Tackle,
L1 to Switch, and R1 to Dash.
  • Added a synthetic touch binding from Switch Plus to the in-match Pause
button because the original mobile title has no usable native gamepad pause
    route.

Added

  • Added optional low-overhead timing instrumentation for swap, looper, sleep,
and selected runtime paths. It is disabled in release builds and can be
    enabled explicitly for performance diagnostics.

Verified

  • Match gameplay no longer remains at the former fixed 5 FPS in the tested
Ryujinx setup, and replay sequences can remain near 29-30 FPS.
  • The latest release configuration reduces slow-motion and HUD/player-name
flicker compared with the previous build.

Known issues

  • Active gameplay is improved but is not yet locked to 30 FPS in Ryujinx;
camera load can still lower frame rate and produce some slow-motion or text
flicker. Native Switch performance still requires hardware validation.
  • The revised defense and Plus mappings are testable in this release but need
a complete match validation before being marked hardware-verified.

Development progress

The current compatibility target is the Nyan Mod Offline edition of PES 2021
Mobile v5.3.0 (versionCode 305030001, package jp.nyan2021.pesam). The
wrapper currently validates files from that specific revision and should not
be assumed compatible with other releases.

Working in the currently tested revision:

  • devkitPro/libnx build on WSL Ubuntu
  • ordered loading of the two support libraries and the UE4 library
  • static import resolution for all three loaded ELF objects
  • Bionic TLS, libc, pthread, filesystem, JNI, and NativeActivity shims
  • EGL/GLES2 context creation and continuous swap/render loop
  • touchscreen input in emulator and on hardware
  • offline HTTP bootstrap, login, and registration flow
  • direct entry to the main myClub menu from a preconfigured offline account
  • title-specific software-keyboard JNI calls used by profile text input
  • main PAK and patch/locale CPK discovery and mounting
  • splash screens, menus, UI, HUD, and transition into gameplay
  • visible, correctly oriented 3D gameplay through the fallback compositor
  • custom Switch-HID-to-mobile-touch controls in the tested Ryujinx Classic
layout, including simultaneous movement, Dash, and action input
  • eFootball-to-Exhibition routing with master-data FC Barcelona and Madrid
squads, a valid Strategy screen, and a playable local CPU match
  • a validated gameplay tick-rate hook that replaces the erroneous 5 FPS
request with a 30 FPS floor while leaving valid rates unchanged
  • native-TLS render-state tracking and a release GLES state cache that reduce
redundant wrapper work during active gameplay
  • possession-aware Classic controls: attack retains B/X/Y/A actions, while
defense uses B Press, A Tackle, L1 Switch, and R1 Dash; Plus taps Pause
  • reproducible generation of the exact 48 offline HTTP payloads from a
    user-supplied compatible APK
  • a one-folder runtime preparer that discovers the APK, both OBBs, and release
NRO, with an independently implemented minimal CPK table reader for the ten
    required locale archives

Runtime preparer

tools/prepare_runtime.py discovers the exact supported APK, main OBB, patch
OBB, and one release NRO in a selected directory. It validates the proprietary
inputs' complete SHA-256 hashes before creating a staging directory. It then
extracts the arm64 libraries, main PAK, and ten locale CPKs, generates the
response payloads, copies the release NRO, and hashes all 64 required runtime
files. Only a fully validated staging directory is renamed to
<selected>/switch/pes21_nx; existing output is rejected to protect user
SaveData. Explicit file-path arguments remain available for development.

The patch OBB extractor is implemented in this repository. It decrypts and
parses the CRI UTF CPK header and TOC, bounds-checks each requested member, and
accepts only the expected uncompressed locale entries. Testing produced ten of
ten CPK files byte-identical to the live runtime without invoking the local
third-party CriPakTools binary.

The GitHub release workflow packages this source as a standalone Windows
PES21NX-Prepare.exe with its Python dependencies. When launched without
arguments it uses one native directory picker. Release users extract the bundle,
put the APK and both OBBs beside its included NRO, select that directory, and
receive a complete switch/pes21_nx tree inside it.

Local development workspace

A locally complete source checkout may use the following ignored directories:

  • local-inputs/ for the compatible APK, both OBBs, and a development NRO;
  • dist/pes21_nx/ for the validated runtime launched by Ryujinx or copied to
    Switch;
  • local-debug/offline-responses/ for optional decrypted JSON and generated
    response payloads used during diagnostics;
  • logs/ for local traces, dumps, and screenshots.

These paths are deliberately excluded by .gitignore and the public-tree
audit. They may contain user-owned proprietary data and must never be staged or
published. Populate the runtime from the ignored inputs with:

python -B tools/prepare_runtime.py `
  --input-dir local-inputs `
  --output dist/pes21_nx

The preparer refuses to overwrite an existing runtime so it cannot silently
destroy SaveData. Use a separate output for experiments, or explicitly move
the old local runtime aside before rebuilding it.

Rendering fix

The gameplay scene was always rendered successfully into the offscreen color
target. The black output was isolated to the first fullscreen draw that should
compose that target onto the default framebuffer:

  • framebuffer completeness, scene RGB data, shader compilation, and program
    linking were valid;
  • a sentinel clear and immediate readback proved that the original compose
    draw generated zero covered fragments;
  • the original fullscreen vertex/index state was therefore unsuitable on the
tested runtime even though the fragment program and source texture were
    otherwise usable.

Version 0.1.77 detects that scene-compose transition and draws a replacement
fullscreen triangle from gl_VertexID. Its fragment path samples the captured
scene texture, applies linear-to-sRGB conversion, and flips the vertical UV to
match the default framebuffer orientation. The wrapper saves and restores the
affected GLES state so later UI rendering remains game-owned.

The experimental shader-cache Mesa patch used during earlier diagnostics is
not required and is not included in this repository.

Release files

  • pes21_nx-v0.1.94.nro - source-built Nintendo Switch wrapper
  • pes21_nx-v0.1.94.nro.sha256 - SHA-256 checksum
  • PES21NX-Prepare-v0.1.94.zip - Windows one-folder preparation bundle
  • PES21NX-Prepare-v0.1.94.zip.sha256 - bundle SHA-256 checksum
  • PES21NX-Prepare.exe - standalone Windows runtime preparer

This release contains the compatibility wrapper and project-owned preparation
tools only. It does not contain an APK, OBB, native game libraries, PAK/CPK
archives, extracted assets, generated offline response payloads, private keys,
or other proprietary game content.

PES 2021 NX v0.1.93

Compatibility target

The currently supported and tested target is PES 2021 Mobile v5.3.0
(versionCode 305030001, package jp.nyan2021.pesam), specifically the
Nyan Mod Offline edition. Other game revisions or packages are not expected
to work without source changes.

The Nyan Mod files are not included, maintained, or distributed by this
repository. Credit goes to Nyan Mod for creating the offline modification
used as the compatibility target during development.

Changelog

Added

  • Routed the eFootball main-menu action into a local Exhibition proof of
concept using the title's normal matchmaking, Strategy, and match flows.
  • Bound FC Barcelona and Madrid Chamartin B from the game's own master data,
producing valid players, managers, kits, formations, and a playable CPU
match instead of an empty myClub squad or immediate 3-0 forfeit.
  • Added a public runtime-template/ with .DONOTDELETE placeholders for all
    required, optional-mirror, and runtime-generated directories.
  • Added a deterministic offline-response builder. It extracts the original
fixtures from a user-supplied APK, applies the two existing-account
overrides, generates all 48 encrypted payloads, and validates their sizes.
  • Added a three-input runtime preparer that validates the APK and both OBBs,
extracts all libraries/PAK/locale CPK data, generates responses, and
atomically publishes a complete SD-card directory with an install report.
  • Added a project-owned minimal CRI UTF/CPK reader, removing the runtime
preparation dependency on the unlicensed third-party CriPakTools binary.

Verified

  • A clean Ryujinx run entered Barcelona vs Madrid gameplay through eFootball,
with visible 3D player models and the custom multi-touch controller handler.
  • All generated offline payloads are byte-identical to the files used by the
tested live runtime; proprietary APK/OBB/PAK/CPK data remains uncommitted.
  • A fresh full preparation generated and hashed 64 required files; the ten
extracted locale CPK archives matched the working runtime byte-for-byte.

Development progress

The current compatibility target is the Nyan Mod Offline edition of PES 2021
Mobile v5.3.0 (versionCode 305030001, package jp.nyan2021.pesam). The
wrapper currently validates files from that specific revision and should not

The GitHub release workflow packages this source as a standalone Windows

two OBB files; the matching NRO is already beside the executable.

PES 2021 NX v0.1.65

Compatibility target

The currently supported and tested target is PES 2021 Mobile v5.3.0
(versionCode 305030001, package jp.nyan2021.pesam), specifically the
Nyan Mod Offline edition. Other game revisions or packages are not expected
to work without source changes.

The Nyan Mod files are not included, maintained, or distributed by this
repository. Credit goes to Nyan Mod for creating the offline modification
used as the compatibility target during development.

Changelog

Added

  • Android arm64 ELF loading, relocation, and static import resolution
  • Bionic, pthread, JNI, NativeActivity, filesystem, and asset-manager shims
  • EGL/GLES2, OpenAL, touchscreen, networking, and runtime compatibility glue
  • Early validation for the required locally supplied runtime file set
  • WSL/devkitPro build helper and source-only public-tree audit
  • GitHub Actions workflow for reproducible NRO releases

Working

  • Splash screens, menus, login/registration flow, UI, and HUD
  • Offline HTTP bootstrap used by the tested Nyan Mod Offline v5.3.0 target
  • Main PAK, patch OBB, and loose locale CPK mounting
  • Transition from the menus into gameplay

Known issues

  • The gameplay 3D scene remains black during the final compose pass.
  • The project is currently tied to PES 2021 Mobile v5.3.0, version code
305030001, and is not expected to support other revisions unchanged.

  • main PAK and patch/locale CPK discovery and mounting
  • splash screens, menus, UI, HUD, and transition into gameplay

Current rendering issue

Gameplay is reached and UI/HUD rendering remains visible, but the main 3D scene
is black. Instrumentation has established that:

  • draw calls continue and the renderer does not crash;
  • vertex/geometry output is present;
  • shader compilation and program linking succeed;
  • offscreen FBO 8, backed by texture 85, contains valid rendered RGB output;
  • the failure occurs after offscreen rendering, during the path that samples or
composes that texture onto the default backbuffer.

The next investigation should trace the final fullscreen pass: framebuffer and
texture bindings, active texture unit, sampler uniform, viewport/scissor,
blend/color masks, texture completeness, and any format/swizzle behavior that
differs between Android Mesa expectations and Horizon Mesa.

The experimental shader-cache Mesa patch used during private diagnostics is
not required to describe or build the current public wrapper and is not
included here. It did not explain the black 3D compose result.
