Shatranj 1.1 — Across the Board

Shatranj now brings the same network chess game to five platforms: ZX Spectrum
Classic, ZX Spectrum Next, Windows, macOS, and Linux. Any supported client can
play any other through Direct TCP or MQTT.

What is new

  • Native ZX Spectrum Next edition, distributed as one self-contained NEX file.
  • One unified Qt desktop client for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
  • Direct TCP and MQTT cross-play across every supported platform.
  • Takeback requests, stalemate detection, synchronized rematches, and desktop
    underpromotion.
  • Ten save slots and portable saved games, including host-led synchronized
    restore between peers.
  • New piece sets, board themes, clearer status and chat feedback, and extensive
    interface polish.
  • More reliable reconnect, peer-loss, retained-message, retry, and control-flow
    behavior in both network modes.
