Character names: faster and more reliable

• Names now usually appear within 2–5 seconds, even in fights, instead of up to half a minute.
• Wrong names are almost gone. The app no longer mistakes your guild, your title, a monster or a player standing next to you for your character.
• A name stays on the card through AFK dialogs, loading screens and moments when it is covered, instead of falling back to "Reading name…".
• After you log into another character, the card switches to the new name within a few seconds.

Fixes

• "Reading name…" no longer gets stuck after the app has been open for a while.
• Lower and steadier CPU use while capturing.
• The Feedback button opens your browser normally, even when the app runs as administrator.

To update, close M2 Monitor, download M2Monitor.exe below and replace the old file.

M2 Monitor 1.0.1

Please update: version 1.0.0 has a memory leak.

Fixed

• Memory leak. 1.0.0 lost about 2 MB of memory every time it read a character name. With four clients open it grew by roughly 140 MB a minute and could reach several GB after a few hours. 1.0.1 stays flat.
• Lower memory use. The app now starts at about 160 MB instead of about 780 MB.
• Character names are captured about 10 times faster.

Download: M2Monitor.exe below. It is a single file and needs no install.

• One card per running M2 client: character name (read with Windows OCR), server, process ID, start time and memory.
• Latency and traffic per connection, and a Disconnect button with an optional confirm step. These need administrator rights; click Restart as administrator in the app.
• Light and dark mode following Windows.

Windows SmartScreen may warn the first time because the app is not code-signed: click More info, then Run anyway.

Requires Windows 10 (2004 or newer) or Windows 11.
