Waypoint 1.3.6

Combat

  • Turn order at the table. Start Combat from the play-map right-click menu (Session) or the Multiplayer panel: a roster of everyone on that map — the party first, every other character below, plus custom rows for things without a token — with an initiative each. Only the tokens in a live target pair on that map come ticked (whoever is targeting and whoever they target); everything else waits for your tick. Higher goes first, ties keep their place, and you can drag rows into any order by hand.
  • Running it: Next and Previous turn, a round counter, and End Combat from the same menu or the turn strip at the top of the map. The active token gets a gold ring for everyone. Players see the strip — whose turn it is and who is next — and cannot change it.
  • A player targeting an NPC asks the GM whether to start combat there (once per NPC per session). Nothing starts on its own.
  • One combat per map, so a split party can fight on two maps at once. Late joiners see the running combat; it ends with the session.

Table notepad

  • A disposable notepad for the table. The GM opens it from the play-map right-click menu (Session) or the Multiplayer panel; everyone sees it as the GM types. Anyone can save it to their Journal with one press; the GM can clear it (it asks first). It is gone when the GM puts it away or the session ends — never part of the save.

Planners

  • Scene status. A Status picker in the planner toolbar marks a scene Next, Played or Skipped; the mark shows before its name in the Planners tree, and only one scene is Next at a time. The play-map right-click menu shows "Next scene: " and opens it.
  • Planner-to-map links. A Scene node can point at a map, and a room on it; the rendered preview shows an "Open · " link that jumps there.

Maps

  • Pinned and Recent maps sit above the Maps tree: pin a map from the play-map right-click menu, and the last five maps you opened are always one click away. Recent is kept per campaign on this computer.
  • Hovering a portal names the map it leads to and the room you land in.

Session log

  • Everything that happens at the table is written to a log on the campaign: session start and end, who joined and left, every handout shown, every crossing, table-wide chat, shares, pauses and travel locks. Open it from the Multiplayer panel or the play-map right-click menu, filter by kind, and save it as a text file — the raw material for the next recap. GM data, never sent to players.

Handouts

  • Tags. Give a handout tags (faces, places, letters — anything, comma separated); a tag row at the top of the Handouts panel filters the list. Tags travel with the handout: players see them as chips in their Inbox, a click on a chip searches the journal for it, and the smart search matches them.

At the table

  • Players see the party strip too. The same faces the GM has: the ones on your map lit, players who left dimmed. Click a face to find that character on your map, or to hear which map they are on; right-click to target. It is read-only for players — no dragging, no summoning.

Snapshots

  • Settings ▸ Advanced lists the save's snapshots: the copy Waypoint takes at every launch (newest ten kept) and any you take by hand with "Snapshot the Save Now" (kept until deleted). Restore puts the whole save back to that copy and reloads — the save as it was is snapshotted first. Needs this release's installer; older shells still get the launch backups.

Faster maps

  • Pictures on a play map decode off the main thread and load as they scroll into view, so a map full of art opens sooner. Players on a map the GM is not on still get its pictures the same way as before.

Fixes

  • A player waiting for the GM to let them in was dropped after twenty seconds and had to ask again. They now wait as long as it takes, and if the GM says yes after they gave up, they go straight in next time.

Look

  • One icon set. The header rows — Campaign, Table, Journal and App pills, Export and Import, Data Map and Play Map, Render Preview, Update — and the sidebar section buttons use one set of line icons drawn in the text colour, instead of a mix of colour emoji.
  • Light theme, second pass: hover text, dropdown rows, the active sidebar row, data-map card titles, the toast, the header, the canvas dots and links, toolbar dividers and scrollbars all follow the theme now.

Export

  • Export As has "Export This Campaign": one campaign on its own, every map and planner plus its players, handouts, delivery record and cast, with images bundled. It imports back as that campaign, so a single campaign can be handed to someone without the rest of the save. Every scoped export — This Map, All Maps, All Play Maps, All Planners, This Campaign — reads from the loaded campaign only; Export Everything is the one that takes every campaign in the save.

Header

  • The icon row is grouped by purpose, each group a small labelled pill: Table (multiplayer, chat), Journal (handouts, journal) and App (refresh, settings, help, about) and, beside the campaign picker, Campaign (search, new, rename, delete). Update, when there is one, stays at the front.

Table chat

  • A player who joins or rejoins gets the recent table conversation (the last sixty table-wide lines; private whispers stay private), so a latecomer is not lost. The chat button dims while no session is running, with a tip saying it needs one.

Waypoint Ver 1.3.5

Waypoint 1.3.5

Campaign Cast

  • The table menu (Campaign Cast, and the Session items while hosting) opens on a right-click on the whiteboard background even while a token or picture is selected; before, a selection turned that right-click into the item menu. Data map characters have a ★ Save to Cast button in the right panel; one without a portrait is saved as a circle token.
  • Save to Campaign Cast now shows for any token that carries a character name, not only ones flagged as characters.

Party strip

  • Bring a player here is on the party strip now: drag a character's icon onto the play map to bring them to the drop point, or right-click the icon and choose Bring here for the centre of the view. GM-run characters on the strip move the same way. The per-player list in the canvas right-click menu is gone.

Fixes

  • Right-click menus on a play map opened thousands of pixels off screen (the menu sits inside the scrolling canvas but was placed with page coordinates), so a right-click looked like it did nothing. They open under the pointer now and stay on screen near an edge.
  • Right-clicking a token no longer selects it, so the side panel stays where it was; the menu acts on the token under the pointer.
  • The three searches keep to their own kind: the Maps search lists maps only (planners were mixed in), the Planners search lists planners, and the header magnifier searches campaigns — it did nothing before.
  • A token arriving through a portal could snap back onto the landing tile when the map's hex cells are larger than the token; the free-spot search now judges each spot where the token will actually sit.
  • Dropping a token on a portal used to announce " is now in " even when nothing crossed; the crossing runs first now and the room note only appears when the token actually stays in that room.
  • A token resting on a portal tile counts as on it when a third of the token overlaps the tile, not only when its exact centre is inside; hex seating could park the centre just outside a tile that is not hex-aligned, and the crossing never fired.
