Overview

The software is designed to simplify the workflow from IMD gridded data acquisition to climate analysis and SWAT data preparation.

It provides access to long-term IMD gridded climate datasets, including:

  • Rainfall data from 1901 to the present
  • Temperature data from 1951 to the present

Users can work with climate data at different spatial scales and download real-time meteorological data, including:

  • Point-based extraction for individual locations
  • Region-based extraction and analysis
  • List-based extraction using multiple latitude/longitude locations
  • Real-time data downloads
  • Analysis of multiple locations or datasets at once

Climate Change and Trend Analysis

The software provides tools for performing climate-change analysis across extracted datasets without requiring users to process each location individually.

Users can analyze:

  • A single location
  • A list of locations
  • Multiple extracted datasets
  • All selected data in a single analysis workflow

The long-term datasets support analysis of:

  • Rainfall from 1901 to the present
  • Temperature from 1951 to the present

Trend analysis includes methods such as:

  • Mann–Kendall trend test
  • Sen’s Slope estimator
  • Statistical parameters for climate time series

This allows users to perform long-term rainfall and temperature trend analysis across multiple locations or datasets in a single workflow.

SWAT Data Preparation

The software also supports preparation of IMD-derived meteorological data for SWAT hydrological modeling, including:

  • Generation of SWAT-compatible meteorological files
  • Addition of elevation values to generated SWAT files

Free Trial

The trial version allows users to download available IMD data, including long-term rainfall data from 1901 to the present, temperature data from 1951 to the present, and real-time data, free of charge, and test the core extraction workflow.

Trial users can:

  • Download available IMD meteorological data
  • Access long-term rainfall data from 1901 to the present
  • Access long-term temperature data from 1951 to the present
  • Download available real-time meteorological data
  • Extract data for one station/location
  • Test the extraction and processing workflow

Full functionality requires activation.

Research Use

IMD Gridded Data Analyzer is intended for research and academic workflows involving climate, hydrology, GIS, and environmental analysis.

The long-term rainfall and temperature datasets are suitable for climate variability, climate-change, hydrological, and trend-analysis studies.

Researchers are encouraged to cite the software and the relevant underlying data and software resources when the application contributes to a publication, thesis, dissertation, or technical report.

Important

IMD Gridded Data Analyzer is an independent software application and is not an official product of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Users should refer to the original IMD source and documentation for authoritative information concerning the datasets and their periods of record.
