v1.1.0-beta - MUI Refactor (Homepage, Navbar, and Footer)
Overview
This beta release introduces a major frontend modernization, migrating all global and homepage components from Bootstrap/CSS to Material UI (MUI) and AOS.
The update unifies the styling system, removes legacy assets, and establishes a scalable theming structure for future pages and enhancements.
Highlights
- Global and homepage components fully migrated from Bootstrap/CSS to MUI and AOS
- Mounted MUI ThemeProvider and CssBaseline globally for consistent theming
- Introduced global theme.js with primary, secondary, and tertiary color palette
- Unified typography and layout across homepage sections
- Removed all unused .css files (About, Services, Portfolio, Testimonial)
- Improved drawer animations, hover states, and AOS transitions
- Added light/dark mode transition animation
Features
- Rebuilt Hero, Navbar, Footer, About, Services, Portfolio, FAQ, and Testimonial components with MUI and AOS
- Implemented responsive layouts using MUI Grid, Box, and Typography
- Replaced deprecated Grid props with modern MUI standards
- Added tooltips to IconButtons for accessibility
- Standardized shadows, colors, and hover animations using MUI’s system
- Removed all Bootstrap dependencies and redundant CSS
Known Issues
- Events page still pending migration to MUI and AOS
- Minor spacing inconsistencies on smaller viewports
- Some animation timings may vary on mobile
- Internal pages (About, Our Team, Projects, Research) not yet implemented
- Bootstrap and animate.css dependencies are still part of the package

v1.0.0-beta
Overview
This is the first beta release of the new ACM UoBD website, marking our complete refactor from the legacy Django-only site to a modular React + Vite frontend with a Django backend.
It establishes the foundation for future feature development, theming, and integration.
Highlights
- Frontend rebuilt using React + Vite for faster load and modular components
- Backend structured in Django for scalable API endpoints
- Bootstrap + animate.css used for initial styling and animations
- Homepage, Navbar, Footer fully implemented
- Drafted Events, FAQ, and Testimonial sections introduced
- Deployed automatically via Cloudflare Pages (frontend) and Render (backend)
Features
- Added component folders for modular React structure
- Established routing via react-router-dom
- Configured automatic deployments on main branch commits
Known Issues
- Events section still partial (data handling under development)
- Some responsiveness tweaks pending on small viewports
- No unified color/theme system yet (to come with MUI refactor)
Next Steps
- Replace Bootstrap with MUI for better theme scalability → planned v1.1.0-beta
- Finish Events integration with backend API and polish frontend
- Add dark/light themes
- Implement About, Our Team, Projects, Research, and FAQs pages
