bantamkit 0.34.3

A maintenance release. The MCP tool surface is unchanged: both servers (npm bantamkit-mcp,
PyPI bantamkit) serve the same 12 tools with the same inputs and outputs as 0.34.2. One
user-visible behaviour changes, below.

What changed

  • A ~/.bantamkit that bantamkit itself brings into existence now gets its self-ignoring
    .gitignore, in both runtimes.
Three things create such a directory, and only one of them
wrote the ignore file; the other two left a directory git could see. Now covered: the kept
install tree ~/.bantamkit/mcp that --install creates (Node only — the offline install is
Node-only by ruling), a store rooted at a .bantamkit (--store ~/.bantamkit), and a store
nested deeper under one. The old rule asked only about the store root's parent directory, which
is the .bantamkit for exactly one shape of root. The install case takes the decision before
npm runs and applies it after npm returns, pass or fail, because a failed npm install still
leaves the prefix on disk. A .bantamkit that already existed is still never given one, an
existing .gitignore is never rewritten, and a deleted one stays deleted.
  • Three explanatory clauses restored to runtime-py/README.md, dropped by 0.34.2's README
trim with no copy anywhere else: which pip an --update uses, why build_identity
distinguishes the code on disk from the code answering, and why a missing asset pack fails
loudly. runtime-ts/README.md's store-sharing section was renamed and linked to match
runtime-py/README.md's, so the two READMEs have the same section shape; both original
    sentences were kept verbatim.
  • docs/memory.md and docs/install.md now state the .gitignore rule the code implements —
the nearest-.bantamkit-ancestor walk and all three creators, not the old parent-only rule and
    two creators.

Repository tooling (no effect on either published package)

  • The lint gate is now ruff check runtime-py tools, widened from runtime-py after clearing
    10 findings under tools/.
  • Two stale mutation anchors re-anchored. tools/mutmatrix/skill-audit-py.json now resolves
74 of 74 anchors; before, M47 matched two sites in mcpserver.py and so mutated token_ledger's
handler rather than skill_audit's, and M51 named a bantamkit_read adjacency that no longer exists — that tool was
retired from the roster in an earlier release — and matched none.

Upgrade

  • npm kept install: npx -y bantamkit-mcp@latest --update
  • pip: pip install -U "bantamkit[mcp]"
